I was in Florida recently and there were a TON of English people everywhere. You could tell they were English by the NY caps without the bill being bent, short shorts, England polos, pale skin etc... Any British people care to tell me what this is all about? Was Becks seen wearing one? Is everyone excited about the Man ure, Yankees deal? Is it just a stupid trend? Please Help!!!

It's just that they're easy to get.....
Very few English people understand baseball, (myself included)...
David Beckham has been seen in a Yankees baseball cap I believe...
But as I people say, it's just a fashion statement...
I live here and I can assure you that no English people that I know even understand baseball let alone are "obsessed" with The New York Yankees...

Plus, Yankees are to non-Americans what Brazil is to Americans. Not that many people understand or follow the sport but they've heard of the most famous team.
When I was in Japan many years ago, I heard someone ask "What does Yoo-cla mean?" referring to UCLA.

I hadn't realised we were that obsessed but now you come to mention it, there are more yankee logos on show than other MLB team.
It is just fashion. It's quite a decent style logo and it's from NYC, so relatively 'hip' as the youngsters might say ;)

I'd guess the vast majority of people wearing the cap just regard it as a cap with NY on it, and don't even realise that it has a connection with a particular baseball team. Next time you see such a person go up to them and ask them who their favorite yankees player is. They'll stare at you as if you are mad and then probably be very British and apoligise for knowing absolutely nothing about baseball.

Why the ******** does that make them British?
My guess (If they are British) is that they are them upperclass British twats who always visit America.....Thats why you thought they were English.....because upperclass "British" twats fit your little criteria.

Manchester United and the New York Yankees, possibly the two richest sporting clubs in the world, have a joint marketing agreement. I don't know how this works exactly but it allows for those two clubs to make inroads to their respective countries.

Nah, stupid twats call themselves after Buffalo, (Maybe it’s the smell) support Arsenal and actually live in New York state. If you call it living.
Take Vacations in Florida (Does all of NY go to Florida) wear long baggy ‘shorts’ to hide their pale skin etc.
Tell me did you wear your retro gooners shirt…? :D

Seattle, second rate…..! My, my. And such language too.
So where does that leave Buffalo..? (Great name for a city) It has to be several ratings below the most livable city in the US.
Damn..! I shouldn’t have said that, you’ll be on the next Greyhound (back seat with your brown bag and bottle of Thunderbird) and heading west.

Stop trying to sound all smug and smart because your not. Buffalo was originally French for Beautiful land by the water. Not the animal. Oh, you already thought that? Idiot.

Not me! It took somebody just as smart as you to come up with a winner like that.
Buffalo means beautiful land by the water...Hmmmn!
Now I know, so when someone asks me "Why did they call that "Hell Hole" Buffalo? I can say
"Some buffalo breathed bastard told me, etc. etc."

Probably because it's the only baseball team that really has any name recognition outside USA/Canada. Sort of like Manchester United (gag) in this country.
