I liked what I saw of him last year. He seems to play big, and is quite athletic.

I wasn't impressed with him at Portland or L.A. I get the impression the braintrust has little or no trust in Kocik.

He was gawd-awful for LA, and I have heard he wasn't that good for Portland.
I have to wonder what the FO is thinking with the very odd rotating goalkeepers so far this pre-season.
We played Platter more than anyone else, then let him go. Tried Kocic early with no luck, but offered him a dev contract. I don't remember seeing Thorpe's name on the match reports lately... or the FO mentioning him at all.
I'm a bit miffed why we are even looking to carry more than 2 GKs anyway.
Is Crayton out for a long time? Is Kocic just way too raw? Does Thorpe suck that much? Was Platter too expensive, was he no good?
I need a blog entry by Mark Simpson :)

One has to wonder if the Keystone Cops are running the show!
During the draft they emphasized how Kocic was as good as Frey...

That may not be a bad idea...
Maybe looking forward to the tailgates is not such a bad idea...

I didn't see Platter play, but no one who did panned him. Probably economic then, Platter either wanted more than DCU would pay, or there was a transfer involved with Minnesota.
Trouble with the stadium, cast off 'keepers from L.A. Looks like I picked the wrong time to quit sniffin' glue.

Sadly, this is not the United team that I remember from the late '90's to early 2000's What is going on with the front office????:(

Hopefully Wicks is related to a PG Councilmember or a Maryland legislator.

Hopefully your team did not waste their time or money on this guy. He is dreadful, I saw him play back in 2007 when he was with the Portland Timbers. He was second rate then, and still is now in my opinion. Your team should look at acquiring the keeper from the Carolina Railhawks the past two years. I heard he was released, not sure of the details, but he was really good. I think he would be a great back up for any MLS team. I am just laughing at how much of a goober Wicks was when he played here....hahahahahaha

What is the deal with the front office's apparent obsession with crappy goalkeepers?

Well, the tradition all started with Jeff Causey, or was it Garth Lagerway.......

Oh, I know that. In fact, I'd say the best goalkeeper we ever had was Mike Ammann (sp?), who lasted, what, less than half a season before injuries did him in?

I'll take Troy Perkins or even Nick Rimando over Mike Ammann any day.

This is just like when the First Sergeant would come around and bitch about our lack of a proper shave during the invasion of Iraq.
Everyone is pissed and divided about something else going on, so the First Sergeant unites and redirects all of their anger at him.
In this case: We're all pissed because the stadium deal is apparently going to shit, so United signs Wicks to distract us from the other trainwreck.
