Finnan --H--H ---Carra

Don't know of EHD still is in the dog house after the ANC? Should TLT start? how about Murphy? is Baros ready? lots of questions and lots to debate.

Winner is drawn at home to Arsenal in the next round! Scum get the Fulham-West Ham winner. Either Milwall or Tranmere will be in the semi's with the Londoners the host. And finally Sheffield United will travel to the Sunderland-Brum winner.

Cracking draw! Bring it on! We have to dispose of Pompey now, it would be a criminal shame not to get a crack at Arsenal after this.

Intriguing draw.
Prob Pongolle or Heskey up front with Owen. There's a reserve game on Thur vs Man U away - I'm not sure if Baros would start on Sunday if he plays the full res game.
Will GH drop Cheyrou for Diouf? Prob not, tho with Kewell playing on an injury Spud, Riise or Diouf could be in with a shout at some stage vs Portsmouth.
C'mon the RedMen

You know I'd think Riise was dead except my friend and I saw him and his wife outside the Albert Dock last week end. You are right, why not give JAR a shout at wing if Harry's got a bad ankle?

Probably because Riise has been even worse than Kewell lately.
This match will be Sunday with our league match postponed BTW.

Kewell is suspended for the Sunday replay, due to yellow-card accumulation.
Seems to me that the likely line-up will be:
.....................Dudek
Finnan--Henchoz--Hyypia--Carragher
.Diouf??--Hamann--Gerrard--Cheyrou
................Owen--Heskey
Assuming Diouf is out of the doghouse. If he's still out of favor, Riise will figure somehow--probably in the squad, with Murphy starting.
Subs:
Kirkland
Murphy
Biscan
Pongolle
Le Tallec
[Possibly Riise, depending on the Diouf situation]
Of course, this assumes that all of our internationals survive their midweek meaninglessness.

But he's not played on the wing in donkey's years. His energy and direct approach at the wing could be just what we need against Pompey.

Oh my, my. If we can't take care of this and get a shot at Arsenal like we know we can, then I may officially join the anti-Houllier brigade.
I'd take Murphy over Riise on the wing. I haven't heard anything new on the Diouf situation.

What the heck happened to Smicer? He dropped out mysteriously before the Chelsea game because of a "minor injury" but has not even played a reserve match since then.

I like Spuds but he looked terrible on the left in his 15 minutes against City.

Last report I saw was from 11 February, where the injury was described as being to his achilles:

No return date announced for him, as far as I can tell.

Just what we need another headless chicken.
Riise hasn't performed to his level of two years ago for quite some time. Last season he was awful and this he has been even worse. He's become a liability in my opinion.
Hopefully Diouf will be back giving us another option. If he is out of the dog house that is ...

Maybe I'm naive, afterall I've only been following football ardently for 6 years, but can someone please explain to me how on earth so many players can have lost their form at once. Riise, Murphy, Kewell, Heskey et al, have all seemingly lost the plot completely. Is it the coaching? Have they lsot interest? What the heck is going on??? Is it really time to bring in a new manager? Perhaps someone to put a great big boot up their collective backsides.

I guess I didn't express it well but over the last 4-5 games all of our wing midfielders have been more intent on passing then on cutting in and attacking. I thought that Riise might be able to bring this to our approach.
Another thing we could use, and I don't think his one successful strike means JAR has this, is someone who can strike a dangerous free kick. I don't have a answer for this as Spuds is probably our best at this and he's still not real good.
Also, I'd like someone else to strike corners other than SG and Harry. I don't think we've ever scored off a harry corner and I'd rather have SG in front of goal rather than hitting corners.

I don't think I've ever seen Harry get a corner ball head high, he'd be better hanging loose at the edge of the box. He's more danger there
