So we already have two hammies?!?! What isn't DCU doing properly in the fitness and stretching department that seems to be causing this continious problem? Less than two weeks to opening day and we pullin' up lame. Is it just me or do have more hamstring problems than other teams?

I agree that we have had more than our share of injuries, and I'm tired of the "just bad luck" excuse. We were never "that team" in the past.

If we have a team full of chronically injured starters, we're begging for a losing season, no matter how much we love them -- and the FO should take action.

If they're not chronically injured, then a combination of bad conditioning and lack of personal preparation would seem the culprit.

Either way, as Woody Allen said 90% of life is showing up.

By the way, I'd rep you for mentioning this, but I've pulled a muscle in my mouse hand. Bad luck...

or is Tommy secretly to blame?

I'm not a doctor, but here's what I've read. Among the more prevalent causes of hamstring injuries are: improper or inadequate stretching, fatigue, and over-striding. If you are seeing a lot of injuries occuring toward the beginning of the match, then it points to the first cause. If toward the end of a match, then the second is more likely. Somewhere in between could indicate a biomechanical problem, such as the last listed cause. Also, as DangerMouse points out, if you have a guy who's injured a hamstring previously, he is more likely to be a repeat offender.

In other words, this is probably not the reason you need for firing Tom Soehn...

I don't know why I'm saying this, but my favorite line from Spartacus is when Peter Ustinov says: "Oh, a hamstringing? How wonderful, I wish I'd been here."

I was calling out training methods before it was cool to call out the trainers. Are they still using Velocity? The team is all over that website. (http://www.velocitysp.com/alexandria)

Because he has put a TON of hard work into his offseason.

It sure sounds like it. Hopefully he was instructed to do the right things to prepare his hamstrings.

Given this fact, it is likely that Tino will continue to have hamstring problems from time to time. So will Fred.

While the chances of him having more are higher than if he hadn't had one before, with the correct rehab this higher chance could be mitigated. I personally used to strain my hamstring a decent amount when I was younger. With a lot of of emphasis on stretching and warming up slowly, I haven't had one since. I'm not saying that he won't have any but I do wonder about DC's training staff with the number of injuries they've had.

Then again, maybe I'm not remembering last year's injury list correctly.

Maybe someone should put together some sort of "Make Sure You Stretch Dem' Hammy's Tino & Fred" banner, go into the stadium nice and early and make sure they see it. ;)

Saw him this morning in Starbucks - said the hamstring isn't as bad as first feared so maybe some good news for a change.
