I know some don't care about the NBA and others don't even know what it is, but my team, the San Antonio Spurs just swept the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.
I became a SA Spurs fan when I met David Robinson, a Spurs center, when I was younger.
Champions!!!! 3 in 10 years....woo hoo.

4 in 9 years, actually.
The problem this year was that the real NBA Finals was in the Western Conference Semifinal when the Spurs and Suns played. The Eastern Conference is so bad that any one of the top 6 in the West could have beaten Cleveland.
Congrats.

Yeah, I don't count the lockout year, because whenever I do my friends yell at me saying that it doesn't count as equal as all the other championships. So I just don't argue the point.
What you say is true though. The West was very good this year (you can look at the GS-Dallas series for reassurance). The top eight seeds in the West would have no problem dispatching many of the eastern teams, save Detroit, Chicago, and on good days Cleveland.

Why wouldn't you count the lockout year? The regular season doesn't mean anything in the NBA anyway, so the fact that the season was shortened by 30 games makes no difference really. It would be a more interesting league if there was 30 less games every year.

Well, the Spurs beat the Knicks in that Final in 1999, and somehow I get the feeling that nobody would say it "didn't count" if a team from New York would have won.
There are 4 trophies at Spurs headquarters, and Duncan now has 4 rings. They all count.

As a Pistons Fan I was dissapointed we didn't make the finals but I doubt we would have fared any better - when you have Ginobili, Finley and Horry pretty much coming off the bench, what can the opponent really do. Spurs are a complete team and they deserved it again this year - too bad nobody watched. My Pistons are getting old and the Heat are hurt so there's nobody in the East who can contend...unless that is changed, NBA ratings will be low.
Since I live in Portland, I am looking forward to the new season and the #1 pick. This might be a good year to go back and see more than 3 games per season.

What about the Jazz? They played really well in the finals, maybe a little lucky, but played well. The suns were their toughest opposition though for sure. Duncan is a freak!
I'm a JAZZ fan:(

Honestly, no other team in the NBA besides the Suns could matchup with the Spurs. Duncan, Parker, and Ginobli are ridiculously talented.
The greatest thing about the Spurs is that they can play any type of game. They have the speed in Parker if they want to run. They have the size in Duncan if they want to throw it in down low. And they have all three if they want to run a offensive scheme.
The Spurs take their stars and then add solid squad players around them like Elson, Barry, Finley, and Oberto.
Liverpool could learn a lesson from the Spurs. 1)All we need is a little star power and we can win some games. 2)We need to learn how to play in all types of games (physical, finesse, long-ball, continental, etc, etc.).

Baseball?
Even though I live in San Antonio, all the fans are uninformed twats, so even though I like watching basketball, the fan reaction is pretty much unbearable. It gives me something to talk about when I mention I'm from San Antonio though.

Same thing though. Brilliant athletes but it all seems, (To an untrained eye) so repetitive.

I played a lot growing up, but blew my knees up in the Corps and lost my chance at college ball. Watched a lot after that though, but somewhere along the way I discovered Liverpool FC, and became disinterested in NBA basketball. Too much isolation offense, one guy dribbling--9 others standing around and watching. Not exactly inspiring. My wife got her master's from KU (rock chalk Jayhawk and all that) and loves KU basketball. I've started to watch the tournament again--it's a helluva lot more exciting to me than the NBA. My alma mater made it to the regionals (I think) in the Division 2 tournament this year, there best ever showing.

I love College basketball, or college sports in general. The athletes play with a lot of heart, and many are more worried about success for their team rather than making a ton of money.
The Spurs are a good team to watch. They have so many different types of players. Duncan is an old school post man. He can make layups, hook shots, bank shots, jump shots, jello shots :D.

The Spurs actually manage to go against that stereotype, and generally the league in the last few years is moving away from the me-first attitude that pervaded the immediate post-Jordan era. That said, there's hardly a team in the Eastern Conference that's watchable - the playoffs were basically decided after the Spurs beat the Suns.

Basketball is shockingly boring sport, all is it is a bunch of tanked up black wannabe gangsters throwing a ball throw a hoop and then saying "Shizzle my nizzle, biatch". What a load of shite.
If you are going to watch sport, watch Football or as you retards call it Soccer and try watching Tennis, there that's sport, what about Rugby? You yankees have your own rugby team, a man's game unlike American Football. What a load of southern state retardness.

I don't fear American sport, I just think they are a joke, that's all, they are boring and shit, rather like the US and it's population.
