Time to note the tv drinking game for this match.
Everytime the lazy commentators dig into their bag of cliches we all have a drink! ;)
Shall we start the list with:
Fortress Anfield
12th man
The atmosphere is white hot
The formbook goes out of the window
Rotation policy
irreplaceable Steven Gerrard
Gerrard is the key
Ownership troubles

Thats if everyone is fit. We are good in these situations where we don't need to score. Keep the shape, frustrate Madrid, and a goal for us will come.

my favorite football cliche is "they have their tails up"... i also enjoy, "they're asking questions"... neither make much sense to me, but, they are used by almost all football commentators...

Hopefully everyone is fit!
I am also hoping Benayoun gets a run out in the second half as well.

I hardly make these so here's my shot...

Carragher----------Gerrard-------Carragher-
-------------------Carragher-----------------
Why Itanadje? Because who needs a keeper in a team of Carraghers? :D

I hope that "don't need to score." quote doesn't mean. Sit back and let them come at us. They have to come, we know, that's leaves the back door open or us, our very best defense is 2 more goals.
This TV drinking game is going to have us all pissed (pissed=engerlishspeak for drunk:)) before the match starts. Let's see. I don't think we'll hear about Babels favourite right foot again. I hope we don't hear about Babel again at least during this match.
How about: "Just over the bar, 15 foot lower and that's a goal"
Oh and: "Liverpool were 8 points ahead of Utd in December now they're 7 behind."
"Got to put the ball on target, got to test the keeper."
I'm really surprised that we haven't heard SARN screaming like a mashed cat, about Liverpool playing the CL tie on the 10th and Manure playing on the 11th before our clash on the 14th.
Perhaps the Rafa rant sunk in a bit.

I would really like Agger to get a run if he's fit.

Most of us would, unfortunately it's not going to happen in a match like this.
Carragher and Skrtel have formed a solid partnership, and I don't think Rafa will change that.

Plus, there are rumours of a bust-up between Carragher and Benitez/Pelegrino over the latter's refusal to play at right-back at Middlesbrough. This has been fuelled by Benitez's alleged cryptic answers to why Mascherano played there

That opens up the crucial debate at centre back. Skrtel had a horrible day at Middlesbrough (from right back), and he started the Sunderland match in similar form as Kenwyne Jones embarrassed him inside three minutes. To be fair to Daniel Agger, it’s reaching the stage where you could not blame him if he leaves in the summer.
Agger at his best is better than Skrtel at his best. He makes Liverpool a better attacking outfit, and the only type of striker that troubles him is a powerful figure like Didier Drogba. Madrid don’t have a Drogba…Agger should start.
Into midfield Yossi Benayoun simply has to play. The little Israeli has been in top form for weeks, scoring at Wigan in January, making a huge impact as a substitute against Chelsea, playing superbly and creating the winner at Portsmouth, scoring the winner in Madrid, and now earning Man-of-the-Match against Sunderland.
Yossi has to play.

And isn't Riera out for the RM game?
Edit: Yes he is.

I posted in the Boro thread the quotes of Rafa saying that Carra had "heavy legs" and was too tired to play at RB...which is one of the most demanding positions on the pitch.
They have looked very dodgy in recent games and also did look dodgy at some stages earlier in the season before Skrtel's injury. Im not saying that Hyypia and Agger are perfect but both those players rarely make a mistake in a match and add an extra attacking threat in front of goal from set-pieces...something that Skrtel and Carra dont. In fact, Carra and Skrtel are two of the worst attacking CB's in the league, in terms of numbers output.
I just dont see why Hyypia and Agger dont get a look in ahead of Skrtel...its confusing, especially when he has dodgy moments almost every match. Skrtel still isnt up to his form from the end of the 2007/08 season.

No Yossi! That doesn't really surprise me with Rafa.
Sometimes Skrtel scares the crap out of me with his lunges. I guess unless Agger is injured, then he really is on his way out.
Jaimie is slowing down, he's doing more of 'playing the man' rather than the ball these days, trying to avoid a chase if the ball gets by him. Sammi well Sammi has been a fantastic Liverpool player but unless he has a future with the training staff he'll be moving on. He'd be a fantastic buy for a mid table club with younger players. So where does that leave our back line?

I can hardly blame him - surely Pellegrino isn't match-fit!

Wait!
Carragher didn't want to play right back? Or Pelegrino didn't want to play right back?
Carragher isn't right back material anymore. He just isn't. Skrtel didn't look too happy to be played out there either. However, Carragher can get away with refusing to play out there, because he is Jamie Carragher.

Well, it's highly questionable that he will be fit or mentally match ready, he has hardly gotten to play.

What do you mean? Yossi is clearly there.
