he seems to be the new darling of the media. revered by them for his outspoken attitude which sure helps fill up the column spaces.

his latest being to call out Hearts players for their farcical injury faking antics and general time wasting efforts.

his record in Scotland has been pretty decent with Hearts and Utd so far. he also had a fairly successful season with Raith Rovers. his hands were tied financially at Leicester for two seasons. i've found Dundee Utd to be one of the better visiting teams to watch at Parkhead over the last two seasons.

he's put together a good team at Utd with signings such as Sandanza, Flood(albeit on loan), Zaluska and Gomis. and yet i get the feeling that he's being intentionally lined up as a replacement for Burley should it all go horribly pear shaped in the current qualifying campaign.

I can only cite the same stuff as you, but he has always seemed very effective.

I think he's pretty good. Would be interesting to see how he would do with more money to spend. But he has done a great job of building up the youth set up at Dundee United. I think that's another good sign on how good he is, the ability to build an overall structure not just go out and buy expensive players.

if things go pear shaped for the cardigan in the run in then i'd agree that it's a possibility.

i just can't shake the idea though that he's being groomed for the Scotland job if Burley's campaign collapses.

Too inexperienced for the Scotland job I think, that said though the B-list candidates that were up for it last time youd have to imagine he would at least be considered. Would be interesting to see him at a club with some money to spend, that would be a true test IMO. Ive seen a few managers that can make a team play well on a shoe-string budget knowing he cant bring anything else in, then go to a club with a bit of dough and buy nothing but shite players.

Good manager, although I think the media are over-hyping him a bit.

Have a strange feeling he will replace Smith in the summer.

Seems to be a very good manager/ director. I think he is getting the best out of United. I enjoy watching his squad play ball. He has an eye for getting talent within his budget. I think he sees things in players that others might miss.
