OK, my Spanish stinks, and Google translate left some confusion. Did we transfer him in, with a 1 year contract, or did we get him on loan for 1 year?

Everything I've seen says one-season loan deal.

Thanks, the German link seems to confirm this as well.

So does this use up much of our Gomez transfer money?

Well, no details have emerged yet, but I'd think that the loan fee will be very low. The bigger item will be his salary.

I would think it hardly uses much.

Exactly. This was a salary dump for Barcelona.

If we fail to bring in another striker what should be our prefered formation?

IMO we could play a 4-5-1. I think it would be interesting to play the 4-5-1 as a 4-3-2-1 with Khedira and Hleb in behind the striker.

Well, first of all, I'm absolutely, 100% positive that we'll get a new striker. it's only a matter of time (maybe we should check back with Huntelaar, whether he has resolved his issues with Real ;)).

But even if we didn't, I think we should stick to the 4-4-2, because I don't see how either Cacau or Marica could play as a sole striker. Gomez could have done it, and maybe Schieber can, but he has still a lot to prove...

A question for the forum Moderator, when will the thread switch over to 09/10? Just wondering since VFB's season starts on saturday in the DFB Pokal.
