So, in our last test we owned Greuther Fuerth 5-0!

I watched the highlights, good performance by the boys! :)

Very assured performance, and it was nice to see our strikers hit 4 goals. Marica and Cacau combined well in the first half, Marica scored the first goal after less than a minute, then he passed the ball for a tap in to Cacau and finally in the first half Cacau also hit his second goal. Schieber meanwhile also scored with a good header in the second half.

So they looked good.

The defence was also strong. Lehmann made one brilliant save in this match, he's been looking very much on form in these preseason matches. Delpierre and Tasci did a solid job though Babbel said the side didn't defend well enough despite holding a clean sheet. Interestingly enough both of them provided assists this game, Tasci producing a brilliant throughball while Delpierre assisted Lanig's beautiful volley goal. Traesch wasn't shown much in the highlights but he did make a brilliant tackle to prevent what could've been a Fuerth tap-in goal. Magnin was perhaps the weak spot in the starting side, he often left too many holes on his side of the defence and was a bit slow. But he also provided an assist haha, for Schieber's goal.

The midfield played pretty well, Hitzlsperger and Lanig both played well in central midfield, Lanig may even be a starter next week if Khedira's not 100% fit after his late training-start following the U21EC. I would've liked to see more play from the wings though, Rudy was decent whilst Gebhart was the only player who wasn't shown once in the highlights.

Here's how the side played:
VfB Stuttgart: Lehmann - Träsch (61. Celozzi), Tasci, Delpierre, Magnin - Gebhart (61. Elson), Hitzlsperger, Lanig, Rudy - Cacau, Marica (46. Schieber)

Interesting that this time Celozzi had his minutes at rightback rather than left.

Also, VfBII had a successful start into the new season, beating Dynamo Dresden 1-0 :)

Well, apparently Crouch's agent offered Redknapp a bigger chunk of the transfer fee than Huntelaar's, because Tottenham have signed Lurch. I know that ship has sailed for us, and I'm glad it has, but it looks more and more like KJH is going to be splitting his time counting his money and picking splinters out of his ass.

If Tottenham has signed Crouch, Harry Redknapp doesn't know about it. Check this out (http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_5454605,00.html).

But I don't think they will go for Huntelaar with the money Huntelaar is asking. Not unless they sell Bent or Pavlyuchenko first or get Real to accept one of them as part of the deal.

Which I told you guys early in this thing Huntelaar might be just well-content to do.

I think he believes he can still make it at Real and might just try to force them to give him a chance.

It wouldn't be the first time that has happened at Real.

Yeah, it's not that surprising that he might try his luck there since they are paying so much more than anyone else is offering.

Indeed. :o Impressive performance & result from your guys against a incredibly shaky Fürth defence (all goals happened after blackouts)! 5:0 corner kicks for Fürth after 47 minutes, but the result was 0:5 with every Vfb shot resulting in a goal. I think that's called CLEVER resp. CLINICAL FINISHING. :-)) Thankfully, your guys finally missed a few top chances in the 2nd half at least. ;)

The midfield played pretty well, Hitzlsperger and Lanig both played well in central midfield

Both were fantastic. Nearby Lanig scored a superb goal and Hitz was close to scoring a "goal of the month" (from 50m) after the interval.

Rudy was decent whilst Gebhart was the only player who wasn't shown once in the highlights.

In my eyes, Gebhart was better than Rudy.

Perfect debut for your new U23 coach Rainer Geyer (who had been manager of Greuther Fürth II for many years before moving to Stuttgart).

It was soooo funny, when Julian Schieber arrived to the bus and was confronted with "Schieber, Schieber" chants (I even heard a few "Hoyzer, Hoyzer" slogans) while writing autographs. :-)) One Stuttgart fan even shouted: "Scheiss auf Gomez, wir haben Schieber!" ... :D

Btw now BILD and some Stuttgart papers are reporting Negredo would be the next in line in our list of options.

Does the player know about that honour ?

I try to imagine Perez or Valdano going to Negredo

'Stuttgart, big club in Germany, has made a bid....just go there'..

Huntelaar fiasco 2.0

I doubt it. I think Negredo would seriously consider the move.

Huntelaar has had the European media telling him he's "the next big thing" for most of his career.

It is obvious all that praise went to his head.

I think Negredo would appreciate a spot on a team who will possibly participate in the Champions' League much more than Huntelaar does.

His age...as a price tag, it would be quite outrageous...unless it was in rubles...

His price tag is apparently at €10m, which is still ridiculous, given that his contract expires in December.
Anyway, I don't know about him... I don't think he would actually strengthen our side. On the other hand, I guess we'll have to be realistic...The likes of Huntelaar or Negredo are hard to get and Vagner Love's price tag is currently at €22m...

Still, I'd rather give Schieber a chance than buying him for €10m...I really don't think Pogrebnyak would be worth it.

I hope this is just a move by our management to reduce Love's transfer fee...

Age.

Hell, if he cost 25M, I wouldn't have bothered to post it! LOL!! :D

Do they have a good plan for Schieber?

Seems liek he is scoring in many games during the offseason. and the fans liek him.

Will he be your "new Mario Gomez"?

Stuttgart have some very promising strikers coming through, like Manuel Fischer, Riedle, Breier, Reimann......good sign.

:D His contract runs in December and he's completely unproven as well as anyone knows they want him out. What a ridiculous price. I wouldn't even consider it, 5m maybe.
