And Sami doubles us up! 2-0!

We better not give this away now. And I don't think we will.

Cacau misses a huge chance to make it 3-0. Too bad. But hey, we're only 15 minutes away from a very good win. :)

Game over!

2-0! Great job boys! Really, really solid performance.

Keeps us up with the others, and beats the Bundesliga leader. And really, the minute we took the lead, there was little doubt in my mind that we would hold on.

And a note to the other sides of the Bundesliga: this is how you beat Hertha Berlin.

By injuring their best defender so you can score?

Anyways, thanks for the win. You have been great help! :)

I know you're kidding, but in all seriousness we completely outplayed them for the full 90 minutes. Voronin had one chance in like the 7th minute, after that Lehmann was not threatened on a single occasion.

You must be referring to the FC Hollywood Strategy Guide. You really ought to get out more and diversify your knowledge.

Wrong book. That one details flopping, womanizing, drunk driving and how to bribe DFB officials. You mean this book:

Well, I've been away for a weekend with the girlfriend, so I have no clue about went on with the game, other than the final score line, and I'm more than satisfied with that. Judging from match reports, seems like we very much had the better of it and completely deserved the result. Always good to take care of business against a Tabellenführer! The top of the table looks crazy now with Bayern and Wolfsburg tied on points, GD, GS, and GA. Nutty! Maybe we can get a few more results and get a European spot yet.

Kicker says Sami Khedira underwent arthoscopic knee surgery today. He should be out about three weeks.

Well, good thing he's only our been our best midfielder this year. Oofah. That really is a sock in the gut.

That's very bad news unfortunately. It's a shame.

On the plus side we have no games anyway for the next week and a half and after that we're playing Bochum away. I guess we could live with Khedira being out of these matches.

But hopefully he'll be fit again in time for the important home match against HSV.

Haven't updated this in a while but here's a bit of recap news:

VfB minus our NT players, had a friendly against city rivals Stuttgarter Kickers. We won 5-3. Forget exactly what the order was but Cacau, Simak, Schieber and VfBII man Schipplock all scored. Maybe Lanig scored the fifth. I forget.

Most importantly, it would be appear that Lehmann is about to prolong his contract for one more season. That would be excellent news.

NT news:

Gomez, Hitzlsperger and Tasci were all starters for Germany against Liechtenstein. Super Mario still can't seem to score for Germany even if his life depended on it, I don't really mind as long as he continues scoring for us, but i'm hoping for his sake that he'll soon break the deadlock! Hitzlsperger put in a solid performance, Tasci obviously didn't have much to do.
Romania lost 3-1 to Serbia, but at least Marica scored :)

Magnin played the full 90 minutes as Switzerland won 2-0 in Moldova.

Netherlands beat Scotland 3-0, Boulahrouz was on the bench.

Mexico beat Costa Rica 2-0 with Osorio playing. Incidentally, Pardo scored a penalty in this game. :)

Boka was on the bench as Ivory Coast beat Malawi 5-0.

Gebhart played for Germany's U20s as they lost 2-0 to Switzerland.

Patrick Funk and Sebastian Rudy played for the German U19s as they beat the Finland U19s 7-0. Funk scored a goal.

That's actually crazy, how unlucky can he possibly be??

Believe it or not, guy has played 5 competitive matches all season... that's just unbelievable.

The same thing happened in Berlin. Why do you think a player with his "name" was available on a free transfer??

What did you think? He would move to Stuttgart and everything would simply change???

I told you about this guy.

We knew he was very injury-prone, but let's look at his annual playing stats:

04/05: 25 BL games
05/06: 27 games
06/07: 19 games
07/08: 26 games (first season with us)
08/09: 4 games

So yeah, he's always missed lengthy parts of seasons due to his injury problems. But this is just a whole new level.

The team haven't been missing him though to be honest.

Great news :)

It's been clear for like a month now that he would extend, but it's great to see an official confirmation :)

In other news, Marica and Osorio will probably miss the game tomorrow due to injuries they picked up with their respective NTs
