It's a significant pay cut, not doubt. I can understand him wanting to think about that, but something needs to happen.

You need something to happen. He doesn't. He isn't concerned about what you need.

He's concerned about his financial portfolio.

I told you before, if a deal doesn't get done, the worst thing that can happen to him is that he's stuck at Real for at least half a season getting paid to do nothing.

I think VfB are silly to wait this long even if the does decide to come to Stuttgart.

I would have gotten someone else already.

Here's a question. Suppose Huntelaar finally decides to join soon. Will you guys forgive him easily for making you wait this long when it is clear he's also hoping for a "bigger named club" to come and get him???

I agree, and I will only forgive him if he bags twenty goals in the league and at least a brace against FC Bastard.

The second he'd start scoring goals in the team colours nothing else would matter.

By the way, we played another friendly today again Birmingham City.

We wound up winning 2-0, with two late goals by Elson and Schieber :)

Here's the squad that played:
Lehmann - Träsch (75. Schwarz), Niedermeier, Delpierre, Magnin (46. Celozzi) - Gebhart, Lanig (63. Khedira), Hitzlsperger, Simak (46. Elson) - Cacau (63. Schieber), Marica (75. Bastürk)

I haven't watched highlights yet but will do once they are on VfBTV.

I don't know if it is actually "clear" that he's hoping for a bigger club. At least not at this point.
I think we've all let us suck into the media speculations too much. Fact is we don't know what's going on. It really is media speculation.

Heldt has said that he trusts Huntelaar and his agent, and that they are honest and I have no reason to doubt him. Bild now writes that the Huntelaar camp has said that it's not a question of whether he'll sign with Stuttgart but when. Again, we just don't know what's going on.

I don't think the long negotiations would become a problem unless Huntellar would fail to live up to expectations. Then people would say that he didn't want to come in the first place and that he's just after the money. But I think that he'd give his best in any case, so I don't think this would happen.

Yeah, I don't know that he is waiting for a bigger club so much as bigger money. He is going to be making a lot less with us than he was at Madrid, if the reports are to be believed.

A few extra euros together? He'll be going from earning 4m euros to earning 2m euros, how the hell is that "scraping a few extra euros together"?

You misunderstood me. I'm not comparing his salary in Spain to his potential salary at VfB. I'm comparing his potential salary at VfB with his potential salary in England or Italy. If all 3 nations have higher tax rates than Spain, he's going to take a hit pretty much regardless of where he lands (assuming he doesn't remain in Spain). So, for the sake of comparison, what does it matter if a club in England offers you the equivalent pre-tax salary as VfB? It probably doesn't make a significant difference, hence scraping a few extra euros together... and btw, thanks for being a total douche in your rounding errors for the sake of exaggerating your point.

I doubt Huntelaar will join.

He played for Real madrid, is at his prime age at 26 n there are clubs after him from the Premier League.

For such a delay, it's clear that he doesn't want to come and play in the Bundesliga either.

Nilmar is someone Stuttgart should go for. Nilmar and Cacau up front!

but isn't Schieber doing pretty well recently in the preseason friendlies and scoring goals??

Scoring goals against Rangendinger SV or whoever we've been playing doesn't really tell you much. It seemed like Schieber wasn't really ready in the only friendlies we've had against good teams in that stupid TV Cup or whatever it was called. We definitely need to sign another striker.

Everybody and his brother is after Nilmar. Kind of late to be going after him. The prices being talked about for him are kind of ridiculous, in my opinion. I'd rather have someone who has already had success in Europe, and Vagner Love does and seems ready to come as soon as we are ready to pull the trigger. It's getting to the point that we need to tell Huntelaar to have fun sitting the Madrid bench and go get Love.

Totally agree. No point in having a striker who does not want to be at ur club

No, but if negotiations were strictly with Stuttgart about salary or with Real about a cut of the transfer fee, they wouldn't usually take this long.

I'm sorry man, but that's common sense.

And what Heldt says about Huntelaar and his agent?

Yeah. Michael Zorc said the same thing two seasons ago about Andreas Hinkel and his agent.

What happened there?

Ah yes. They went where they got the most money......

Fair play to Hinkel, but that is one of the reasons it doesn't change anything for me just because Heldt says he trusts Huntelaar and his agent.

Yes, I believe he will give his best if he joins Stuttgart.

I will also never believe that if he comes to Stuttgart, it is purely for money.

I think it will be because:

1) He wants to stay on Bert van Marwijk's radar for the 2010 World Cup.

2) He doesn't want to waste another half season at Madrid. I say this because I'm sure he'd be sold during the winter transfer window.

3) He will want a chance to star in the Champions' League.

But the money helps! :D ;)

it seems that the negiotations has stopped as Huntelaar wants to go EPL

Marca says that Huntelaar has said, that he can't say much, but that he is still a player of RM.

English Media links him still to Arsenal/Tottenham. While the Italians link him to the Roma.

It is easy to tell, that he is waiting for an EPL offer.

Just read that Huntelaar wants 5mil compensation from Real, and that between VfB and himself everything is settled.

It was also mentioned that someone close to Huntelaar said it wasn't the question if he comes to Stuttgart, but rather when.

The again, other reports suggest he's still wainting on an offer from the Premiership.

This is taking forever.

As "benztown" said, "Fact is, we don't know what's going on........"

I'm guessing the media doesn't know either. ;)

I'm sorry if this was previously reported, but I didn't see anything amongst all the Huntelaar postings.

The Kicker article partially shown below says the Tasci extension is now truly done.

Stuttgart: Verlängerung in trockenen Tüchern

2010? That's it? What a bullshit number. That just tells me that we're for sure selling him after this season. Just slapped another year on so we can get something when he leaves. Better than not getting him to extend, but that's as much a bummer as a relief for me.

Errgggh. I just saw the number and went ballistic. Serves me for not reading. My bad. Just assuming the worst given the way this transfer window has gone. That is a relief.
