The Stuttgarter Nachricten had a team photo in the paper today, I got excited hoping for some insight, and there was none.

2m/y?
Well maybe we got a new Berber negotiator. And when we give Huntelaar 4m/y he'll think he's made a good deal.
Edit: Huntelaar: In Madrid I got 3m/y after taxes. I think that's 6m/y in Germany, right?
Berber special negotiator: 2m/y.
H: Well I understand that's a bit high so maybe 5m/y?
B: 2,1 M/y.
H: No!
B: 2,2 m/y and a new Mercedes Benz.
H: I already have a car.
B: 2,3 m/y, the car and a camel.
H: A camel?
B: 2,4 m/y, car and camel.
H: Can't you go higher?
B: Higher?! You're ruining us. We'll be forced to field youthplayers and part of the fans will have to stand during the matches!
H: Maybe we should take a break from the negotiations now...

We've Bastürk more than most of our players, and most of our players have done far more to deserve that kind of money.
I don't really believe that 2m figure.

Looks like you have agreed to pay him 3.75 m in wages to him.
Hope you sign him, need strong teams in Bundesliga.

I think this whole salary discussion is nothing but speculation. €2m cannot possibly be true.
I can imagine though that there are lots of confusions about whether that money is pre- or after tax.
The reports say that Huntelaar gets €3.8m before tax in Spain, which given their low taxes would amount to roughly €3m after tax. If Stuttgart would pay the same money, Huntelaar would only have €2m after tax, given our tax rate.
For Huntelaar to go out with €3m after taxes, Stuttgart would have to pay €5.5m before taxes which I can't see happening. Maybe they'll meet somewhere in the middle or they think of some other way to somehow go around those taxes, like having Real pay a compensation of a couple of million at low Spanish tax rates and in return up the transfer fee a bit...

I admit it probably isn't true, but why couldn't it be? Is this not the same club who gave Basturk 3M per??

Great points. But if VfB wants a European "name" like Huntelaar on its roster, they will have to PAY.
And Real isn't going help out on this. They just want the guy gone.

This move better not fall apart because we do not want to pay him enough. 2 million is insanely low, I too have troubles believing it. Babbel has told Heldt that he doesn't care when Huntelaar comes, be it tomorrow or next week, the there's no 'Zeitdruck'.
As long as he comes I agree. But if he ends up not coming, this better not come out after 2 weeks of negotiations where we haven't concentrated on any other players... it's getting too late in the summer for that.

In other news:
We played a friendly yesterday, interestingly enough against our first round Pokal opponent Sonnenhof Grossaspach...
...and, if there was any final sign needed to show we must get a new attacker, the game ended up finishing 0-0. Very poor performance from the side, Grossaspach even missed a penalty with a quarter of an hour to go.
Also, Georges Mandjeck has been sent on loan to Kaiserslautern for a season. Good luck

well according to goal.com stuttgart is offering him half of his current wages, which stand at €3.7million per year. but stuttgart is thinking of offering him an improved contract.
i personally think tt the first contract offer is a little bit insulting for him, hopefully he did not take offence and quickly join the club. we need bundesliga to take over serie a for the 4th CL spot!

Rough translation:
Dutch media report that Huntelaar wants more time to think about it and will go to the preparation camp with Real in Ireland, while Spanish media report that he'll fly to Germany today in order to finalize the deal.
As has been pointed out, apparently Stuttgart is offering the same 3.7-3.8 million Real is paying, the difference are of course the high taxes here.
Maybe VfB can improve the offer by introducing bigger incentives, so that Huntelaar could earn an additional 1-2 million if he's as successful as Gomez was. Because if he's as sucessful as Gomez, we can assume that Stuttgart will remain among the top teams and easily afford that extra cash.

Apparently the chances of signing Huntelaar have decreased again. Now Tottenham seems to be seriously interested as well...Stuttgart can offer international football, Tottenham can probably offer higher wages...

That is a superb suggestion, but I also think Huntelaar's ego is big enough for him to refuse an incentive-laden contract and wait for someone else to "come and get him."

It really seems to be a race between us and Tottenham now.
We offer a better sporting perspective than them, and European football, but they can probably offer more money. A move to the Premier League maybe would also keep him in the spotlight.
I hope he decides for us. We have apparently agreed to pay him 4 million euros a year before tax, and now all we're waiting for is the player to say 'yes'.

Dude, I've been trying to follow this thing very closely.
It's about time that I can track something like this that has nothing to do with Bayern! LOL!! :D
Anyhow, the only thing I could find out about any "link" between Tottenham and Huntelaar is old and purely media generated.
In other words, I think the rumor is bullshit.
None of the three guys in England who have gotten back with me on this say they've heard anything credible linking Huntelaar and Spurs.
One guy mentioned one old rumor that had Tottenham supposedly preparing to offer Real 40M Pounds for Robben, Heinze and Huntelaar. But he says this was around the time Stuttgart was linked with Tottenham's Roman Pavlyuchenko and there was no way Real would accept that kind of deal.
That's the one I called "bullshit" above.
I'm still waiting to hear from two other guys including my best Spurs "source".
The only article I could find on it at Sky Sports is from back when Babbel said there was no hurry, but the deal needed to get done.
That article (http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11827_5427815,00.html) speculated on Man U. and Milan, not Spurs.
And the latest word that I've been getting on those two clubs is that as we discussed before, Milan is keen to sign Luis Fabiano since they failed to get Edin Dzeko.
Manchester United has been linked with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. However, that one seems unlikely to happen because of the price and SAF is rumored to have concerns about Ibrahimovic's attitude.
A more likely scenario might be Man U. luring Samuel Eto'o away from Barcelona. They are also strongly linked with Brazilian winger Douglas Costa of Gremio.
The only other rumor that is still being quietly banded about among "reliable" Man U. rumor mills is the one for Sergio Aguero.
In other words, I don't think you guys have as much competition for Huntelaar as you think or as he would like.
But I think even with the better offer he's been made, he is going to hold out from signing with you guys until he is certain no bigger club is going to come for him.
EDIT: I just heard back from my best Spurs source. He says not only has he heard nothing about Spurs and Huntelaar, but he believes the only way Spurs could match Stuttgart's offer is if they sell Bent or Pavlyuchenko first.
He thinks Tottenham IS NOT INTERESTED in Huntelaar.
It doesn't make him right, but when it comes to Spurs, this guy is rarely wrong.......

Good post and, yeah, i'm still optimistic that he will come. I only hope that if he DOESN'T come, then we will know sooner rather than later. Ideally, he WILL COME as soon as possible :)
Would still be the most sensational transfer of the club's history if it happened, but waking up 5 days in a row now hoping to hear the big news with nothing coming out gets me anxious i must admit...
