Well, I think 20M is a bit too much, but if Huntelaar can come in and live up to his hype, you guys will have gotten a very good deal indeed.
Good luck!!
I think to have made 15 million profit plus get Huntelaar 'in exchange' for Gomez would be a very good move. If this move sticks it would be the best big-hype transfer in the club's history imo (and it should be, at double the old record!)
but nothing's happened yet.
All this hope will really kill me though if he doesn't come...

Looking at it that way, yes, I understand and take back my "too much" comment.
It's a good chance to take.

You're being an anxious fan. Nothing wrong with that. Shit man, I wish my club was doing something to have me excited with anticipation!! :D

Trying to separate the BS from creditable news... many French sites had written that Huntelaar had been spotted in Marseille and was going to sign for them.... but the agent says he's in Madrid and now i've found this link for L'Equipe, one of France's most creditable football sites.
http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/20090709_160218_huntelaar-vers-stuttgart.html
They write that chances of him moving to Marseille are almost 0, that we are favourites and have already had an offer accepted. BUT (the new bit) they go on to add that 'according to their information', which usually means BS but in this case in a reliable paper, Huntelaar will be in Stuttgart for negotiations tomorrow. They also quote him as saying that he could 'see himself someday in the Bundesliga'.
Don't know if it's true or not. I hope it is.

Can somebody explain why I seem some people saying we got 30M and others saying 35M for Gomez? Is there a 5M add-on for some contractual clause?

To pass the waiting time... we had our third friendly of the season yesterday, this time against FC 07 Albstadt.
We were able to win the game 5-0, here's the team that played:
Stolz (46. Ulreich) - Träsch (46. Osorio), Tasci (46. Boulahrouz), Niedermeier (46. Delpierre), Celozzi (46. Magnin) - Hilbert (46. Gebhart), Hitzlsperger (46. Elson), Lanig (46. Schwarz), Rudy (46. Simak) - Schieber (46. Riedle), Marica (46. Bastürk)
Goals came from Hilbert, Basturk, Gebhart, Elson and Simak.
so Simak scored again, and it was a wonderful goal, a beauty chip over the keeper. Incidentally it was almost a copy of Basturk's goal, who also scored a beauty chip after come good work by Riedle. I'm happy for Basturk, if he stays with us, as it appears will be the case, then it's important that he gets some confidence over this summer period. Basturk also had a nice assist for Elson's tap-in goal. Hilbert's was also a tap in while Gebhart's was a nice finish after beating his defender.
Hilbert's goal
Well, Bastürk has always had the talent, just rarely the health. If he could actually make it through a season without injury, he'd be an asset.

Huntelaar to Stuttgart offer has been accepted by Real Madrid according to Spanish paper Marca. This is great news for Stuttgart and their CL prospects for next year. Awesome that they were able to pick up a player wanted by Man U. I really think that Huntelaar is better than Gomez and hoped That Bayern would have picked him up instead.

I don't think Huntelaar is as good as Gomez, but Huntelaar plus 15 million for Gomez is a sweet deal.

There are conflicting reports, but it seems to boil down to Bayern having paid us €30m and depending on their success next season, we could get up to €5m on top of that.
In other news, "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" reports that Demba Ba will definitely NOT join us. So this indicates that Horst Heldt has to be quite certain that someone else will join us really soon (Heldt himself apparently said that we'll have a new striker by the end of the week).
The same article states that Huntelaar would join Stuttgart, if Real pays him a compensation, since he won't get as big a salary in Stuttgart as he does in Madrid. Given that our €20m offer is still way ahead of anyone else's, I'm still confident that this will work out.
Especially since other reports claim that KJH will be in Stuttgart tomorrow for final talks. So it looks really, really good right now...

If the news for Huntelaar is true, what do you guys think the line up would look like and what do you think will be done with the rest of money from the Gomez deal.
Here is my stab at the line up.
Lehmann
Celozzi - Tasci - Niedermeier/Bouhlarouz - Traesch
Gebhart - Khedira - Hitzlsperger - Hilbert
Cacau - Huntelaar
Pretty good line up to do some damage in the champions league, wish we could have gotten Hleb and then we could have done some real damage.

You need at least 1 striker of midfielder whose a proven quality if you don't want to bow out of CL group stages like last time.

The 10 million euros can be used for a quality midfielder, the Gomez deal has really proved to be helpful.

By us giving the 'no' to Ba, I am very confident now that this deal will happen. For my nerves, it better be sooner rather than later. I better be right...

I've been talking to one of my old Real buddies about it.
The word he gave is that VfB and Huntelaar have already discussed personal terms and Huntelaar is trying to decide whether he wants to play in Germany or not. He's fairly certain about that part.
He speculates that Huntelaar is hoping Milan comes in with a better offer. But that's just his thought. It is just a thought he doesn't expect to happen either.
He said he expects Huntelaar to decide for VfB. He just doesn't know when.
I trust his word.
Doesn't mean he's right, but I trust his word.
EDIT: I forgot to say I think Huntelaar will decide for VfB too...... :D

Right now, I'd give us a 65% chance. I don't think Huntelaar will want to warm the bench in Madrid. But on the other hand, it definitely is a big step back to join us after being in Madrid.
On the positive side, Milan seems to have given up on him. They don't want to pay €20m and rather get Luis Fabiano. Which at this point leaves ManU, but they don't seem to be too interested in him either, at least not for that price. Apparently, ManU is now looking to get Aguero/Ibrahimovic. Plus, he would have a hard fight for a starting spot there as well. I think Rooney is pretty much set, so he'd have to fight it out with Berbatov and Owen.
So this leaves me rather optimistic. Also, Bert van Marwijk told the press that Stuttgart would be a great club for Huntelaar, so if the WC is his goal, he might listen to his NT coach.
Of course lots of things can still change. What if Aguero won't go to ManU or Milan can't get Luis Fabiano? Plus there could always be a wild card like Manchester City, but I don't see that coming.
Right now I'm on the confident side. Unless Milan's public retrieval was only a tactical maneuver, I think that we'll have his signature on a VfB contract by next week...

I mean, any of the big clubs could potentially muck up our chances, but I do not think a single one of them will offer Huntelaar a starting role. Look at these clubs and you know that every one of them has the depth up top that will prevent Huntelaar from being a 90 minute player each game. I would think wanting to be on the World Cup squad, and maybe get minutes in WC games would draw Huntelaar to a team where he'll be a starter each game and where he can stay in top form.
On the Ba situation. I'd say this completely backfired in his face. Now he apparently has to go back and make up with all the people on his team and front office that he pissed off by demanding he get sent to Stuttgart. I don't think that's a very good situation at all for Ba. Hoffenheim may have been trying to put in a deadline, but since Stuttgart didn't bite, it actually worsens Hoffenheim's bargaining position. They might need to get rid of Ba now, after this press-covered want-away saga, and VfB could maybe get him for <10M. I'm hypothesizing here, but still, would you want a disgruntled player poisoning the lockerroom? They only paid like 3M for him, so they'd still get off nicely on a transfer for 9-10M.

Yeah, but he's only been there for a half season.

Most don't think Huntelaar is worth 20M, but your situation justifies that type of payment.
I'm a Man U. fan and in touch with people in Manchester just about every day. None of them have ever heard Huntelaar's name seriously mentioned with Man U.
And you know what else is good? Man U. doesn't comment on transfer rumors, but they post some on the official club website.
Aguero and Ibrahimovic are both listed there and so is Luis Fabiano.
But no Huntelaar........
You can see the page at this link (http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid={C2572DA3-8A1C-457F-9926-899EA5639CB4}&redirectorid=news_story&newsid=6633846).
As far as their striker situation, yes, they would like to bring in another partner for Rooney, but I think if they can't find a good one at a half-way decent price, SAF will be content to go into the season with Rooney, Berbatov, Owen and let Welbeck and Macheda fight it out for the 4th striker spot.
I also would not be surprised if they go after Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor or Fulham's Andrew Johnson before paying over 20M (they would have to top you guys' offer) for Huntelaar.
And this is why I think any mention of Man U. and Huntelaar is BS. Man U. has too many other options.
So this leaves me rather optimistic. Also, Bert van Marwijk told the press that Stuttgart would be a great club for Huntelaar, so if the WC is his goal, he might listen to his NT coach.
He'd better. BvM doesn't screw around.
Shit man. Letting BvM get away is still Dortmund's biggest mistake in the last 10 years in my opinion......
Sorry about that. It just still ticks me off. :-) :-)
Of course lots of things can still change. What if Aguero won't go to ManU or Milan can't get Luis Fabiano? Plus there could always be a wild card like Manchester City, but I don't see that coming.
I think you're too worried about Man U. Of course, I can be wrong, but I think Man U. simply has too many other options.
Plus, SAF does not like dealing with Real Madrid. He truly HATES them.
I think SAF would also rather chance it with his kids or get an English striker rather than pay the money for Luis Fabiano.
I think SAF would pay for Aguero, but not for Fabiano. However, the fact is, Atletico isn't ready to sell Aguero.
Luis Fabiano will be more expensive than Huntelaar right now. LF raised his stock a bit at the Confederations Cup. I could see Milan using some of that Kaka money on him as they could sell paying more for him to their fans, who needs some serious appeasement right now.....
Huntelaar would not appease the Milan fans the way Luis Fabiano would......
As far as Man City goes, they are apparently interested in a Dutch striker from Real Madrid, but it isn't Huntelaar.
They're reportedly interested in Ruud van Nistelrooy, but word is he won't join City because of his "affection" for Man U. fans.
I wonder how much oil money it will take to kill that "affection"?! LOL!!
Right now I'm on the confident side. Unless Milan's public retrieval was only a tactical maneuver, I think that we'll have his signature on a VfB contract by next week...
You could be right. "Giving up" could be a "tactical maneuver" by Milan.
However, it would have to cause Huntelaar to go to Real and beg them to let him go to Milan for less money.
That is a possibility...... :o
But I still think he's going to choose VfB.

I think all the rumors of Huntelaar to Man Utd have been created by the English media themselves. They know the club wants a striker, he's one of the better ones known to be on the market, so they assume Man Utd are going after him.
