You asked....;)

I'm glad you brought it up, because my opinion is that NO, he cannot. Barca showed you this season why it's a joke for Bayern to even consider themselves in with a good chance of winning that trophy.
You can keep dreaming though, but I hope Gomez is less naive.

Funny. Ballack thought he'd win one of those at Bayern too.......
Funny, Ballack also thought he'd be winning one of those at Chelsea too....;)

Well, he at least got to the final there. Something he wouldn't have done at Bayern and Gomez won't at Stuttgart and won't if he goes to Bayern either.......

Bayern buying Gomez isn't going to make their CB's and GK's suddenly not suck in comparison to those of the other elite European teams.
If he's really gone, I pray to god it's not for a penny less than € 25 million. We could get Hleb and a decent striker to replace Gomez for that.

His price I hear is about 30 million.

And yet his chances of winning with Bayern are much higher than Stuttgart.

If I could see the future, I would make that prediction as well.

Don't worry, I think it's freaking 30m euros which is a ridiculous amount for us! :( Hleb should cost 8m euros, get a striker and another wide midfielder/full-back. You can then use your CL money to get some depth players.

Funny, he said he was going to win one of those at Chelsea too........
Funny, someone else said THE EXACT SAME THING!!
And yet his chances of winning with Bayern are much higher than Stuttgart.
Very true, but it has nothing to do with my opinion.
If I could see the future, I would make that prediction as well.
If seeing the f#cking future was a prerequisite for making predictions, I guess we would not have any fun around here with our match tipping game or transfer conversations, would we??
Man, sometimes you can be such a effin' crybaby when someone makes a comment about Bayern you don't like.

Ok, so with the transfer season getting on its way, let's start the speculation:
Leaving:
Gomez (Bayern wouldn't act the way they do if there was any doubt)
Marica (There are rumors, though nothing conclusive)
Bastürk (Contract until 2010, so we need to find someone who actually wants him)
Simak (same thing as with Bastürk)
Mandjeck (same thing as with Bastürk and Simak)
Coming:
Manuel Fischer (returns from Koblenz)
Alex Hleb (I hope and pray)
Striker X
there have been countless rumors as to who this Striker X could be, here are the ones I've come across so far:
Kevin Kuranyi: Very unlikely. After Magath signed with Schalke, Kuranyi seems to be wanting to stay anyway, and Magath apparently said that he wants to keep him. Apart from that, I don't think he would have been welcome in Stuttgart.
Milivoje Novakovic: Could be, although he's already 30 years old and possibly too much of a bon vivant.
Demba Ba: Would be great, but Hoffenheim is under no pressure, so should we want to get him, it would be VERY expensive...too expensive for someone who's only had one good season so far IMHO...
Aristide Bancé: Seems to be a good striker, however, completely unproven in the Bundesliga. Would be a gamble and I don't think Heldt wants to repeat his mistakes from the past.
Andrej Woronin: Well, I don't think so...I don't think he'd be an improvement over either Marica or Cacau. Could replace Marica though...
Patrick Helmes: Would also be a very good option. However, his contract lasts until 2013, so Leverkusen won't let him go, at least not for any reasonable sum. If they lose against Bremen in the Cup final, he might want to leave though...but would he want to go to Stuttgart?
Vagner Love: Too expensive, next...
Marc Janko: Very successful in Austria, however unproven at any higher level. Could also be a Marica replacement.
Pawel Brozek: Same as Janko. Again, only played in Poland so far, unproven at any higher level...
André-Pierre Gignac: He has had an exceptional season in France, however, he already said that he wants to stay with Toulouse...wouldn't be cheap either in any case...
Nicklas Brendtner: I think that he would be a realistic option. He's still young and already quite far in his development. So among all possible Gomez replacements, he'd be on top of my list.
In any case, I hope that we won't make the same mistake as we did the last two years. We should only get players on the cheap who won't improve the team...Among all the players we bought over the last two years, only Lanig and Gebhart even have a shot at the first team (well, and Lehmann of course)...so we really should go afte Hleb and a top striker, get rid of all the benchwarmers, extend contracts with our own talents and tackle Europe...

Hleb is a legend at the club, and in these past days i've really just come to appreciate so much more that Hleb moved to Arsenal all those years ago, and not somewhere else. It seems others are going to take different decisions.
I can't deny i'm really really sad if he moves to Bayern. This has been our star for 3 years. Won us a title. Took us to CL this year. Could go to tons of clubs in England, Spain or Italy. And it looks like he'll choose the only club that was a real 'NO!' from a fans perspective. Also hurts that he can't achieve anything there that he's already achieved, no new tournaments (to those who talk of CL - arrogantly and shamelessly enough in the thread of the side from who you're robbing the best player - no chance), it's essentially all about the money yet again. Though he could earn mroe abroad! I don't know. This move just makes no sense, even Bayern already have Klose, Toni, Olic and Wagner - can anybody tell me why they even need a Gomez here????????
Essentially we won a title in 2007, we made a great comeback this year. With Gomez+Hleb we'd have a top squad next year. Guess we became a threat, so the ********ing side comes in and takes our start, who they don't need in the first place. And Gomez doesn't need to go there!!!
Who's the big loser? We are. Of course we are. In discussions between a team, a player, and FC Bayern, the loser is always the random team.
I could keep going blablabla, but there's no use i'm just babbling. But this story has really hit me.

I don't think that Hleb moves to Bayern, at least not as long as they hold on to Ribery, which they seem determined to do. On top of that, they also want Snejder, so I don't see where they want to fit in Hleb (other than weaken us of course)...
If Hleb joins the Bundesliga again, I'm sure it'll be with Stuttgart...
BTW, I forgot one player who definitely leaves us: Ljuboja...his overpaid contract finally expired...

Gomez gone to Bayern!!
In this article (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/509248/), Horst Heldt admits that Gomez is moving to Bayern! Gomez also makes farewell comments to the Stuttgart fans and tells them the decision was not an easy one.
Oh well, we knew it was coming. I'm not happy for "Bayern", but I am happy for the Bayern fans I chat with here at BigSoccer.
I hope you guys will use the money wisely.

I'll join in.
Hleb won't talk until after the CL final. But I really do have a strong belief that he'll return to the side. It just seems possible. I hope and hope and hope that it happens. Fischer i'd loan out for another year, he's disappointed in his development this season.
On your rumours, some of which i've heard as well:
Kuranyi: no no no
Novakovic: Don't want him. Too old, and not convinced he'd fit in the side. In VfB forum only 9% said they wanted him, in a poll.
Ba: Would be a good move in my eyes. Though if we got Ba, and Marica and Gomez left, we'd need to buy a second very good striker as well. And I don't think Ba/Cacau is a worthy CL lineup. Now, Ba/Cacau/BigName, woul be a worthy lineup.
Bance: Exactly these types of alibi squad-deepening players is what I do not want.
Voronin: Don't want him.
Helmes: If Gomez goes, he's the dream option. I really, really, really rate this guy. Now if Bayer doesn't make Europe next season, he may wanna leave. But I don't see it happening after just one year with the club. Very unrealistic in my eyes.
Love: One of the more concrete rumours. Would be a top buy. But would he want to join us???
Janko: See Bance.
Browek: See Janko. Actually, to be fair, these players are all decent buys so long as they aren't the only striker we buy. These guys would be good Marica replacements, if he leaves, not good star replacements.
Gignac: Know nothing about the guy to be honest, though I hear he's a great footballer.
Bendtner: Would be awesome. But won't happen.
...then again if a single one of these transfers happen, i'll be pleasantly surprised. These are mostly just names being thrown into the mill by various fans.
Really, i'm not gonna talk about transfers again until its clear what happens to Gomez - maybe today? :(
But I generally agree with your views benztown. Except regarding Vagner Love, because he's a name even mentioned by Kicker. Seems more possible than the other names in that sense.

And here we go
I hate that ********ing club so much.
I'm actually ********ing heartbroken right now :(
And using the money wisely?? He's gone because of a clause. 30 million does not equal what we had with Mario.
I've got a real lump in my throat. Don't remember last time a player leaving gave me this feeling.
I'll be gone a few days.

i agree and i am sorry bro :(
Sucks that he goes to Bayern but the most important thing for me here is:
34.000.000€ for a player from your own youth!
That's the way to do it and I hope this brings clubs like 96 to spent more money on youth.

http://www.stuttgarter-nachrichten.de/stn/page/2035724_0_8444_-fuer-34-millionen-euro-gomez-wechselt-zum-fc-bayern.html
This article says that Bayern paid €34 Million, which makes Gomez the most expensive Bundesliga player ever.
Also it says that Heldt is still in negotiations with Hleb and that on top of his list as Gomez successor sits Helmes.
If we're able to score Hleb AND Helmes, that would be ideal. And while Mario is probably worth every penny of that transfer fee (at least to us), I do think that we would possibly have a better team with those two, especially because it would make us a lot more flexible.
I'm not too confident regarding Helmes though...but we'll see...

I do hope VfB can hold Niedermeier in this transaction.
I remember some time ago Tasci mentioned that the stay of Gomez was one of the factor whether he would renew the contract.(from STN or STZ)
