But, if either of those guys make a real impact, or heaven forbid, score a few goals, then the reason they happened to get called up doesn't matter one bit....

All one needs is a foot in the door.

True, but if I were you, I'd be more concerned with one of them suffering a major injury that could hamper them at the start of next season during a meaningless tour of Asia.....

Plus, how much "credit" do you really think Low going to give someone for playing "well" against China and the United Arab Emirates???

That's not exactly the strongest competition my friend........

I think you have to look at it independently. Cacau probably doesn't have a big carreer in the NT ahead of him, I think we can all agree on that. Träsch on the other hand might become a regular. He still has a lot to prove in years to come, but if he continues the way he's performing now, I do think that he will get his chances.

I actually think you've got it backwards and what makes you think I didn't look at it individually?

Germany has enough young competition in defense, but Germany is HURTING at the striker position.

How much would it benefit Germany if Cacau and Gomez could re-create their VfB "magic" in the Germany shirt???

I do get that the best things Träsch has going for him are his age and versatility.

But again, the competition at the back is strong. Especially in the center. Don't forget that Hummels and Höwedes are up and coming there too, not to mention your guy Tasci.

Out on the wings, you've got Marcel Schäfer and Marcell Jansen to compete with, not to mention the likes of Philipp Lahm.

Who does Cacau have to compete with? Even if you simply write in Klose and Gomez, there are still three more spots to fight for.

In my opinion, Cacau's competition for one of those spots is: Podolski, Helmes and Kiessling.

That's it. And I'd take Cacau over Kiessling any day.

I like Cacau's chances to stick in the near future better than I do Träsch's.

Sure, you're right when you say Träsch has more years to compete, but he also has a hell of a lot more competition for the positions he plays.

Again, I think Träsch is just getting a look to see how he might be able to be used in the future same with Tobias Weis.

I truly believe if Leverkusen had not asked Low not to call up their players, Träsch wouldn't have gotten a sniff.

I don't mean that in a "bad" way, that's just what I believe.

Well, as you said, Träsch is very versatile, so that's always positive. In the NT, I see his best chances as right back which is the position he's been playing for Stuttgart lately. Friedrich has never been convincing IMHO, so he might have a shot. Sure, there are also Beck, Hinkel or Castro, but I don't see why Träsch should be behind those at this point.

As for Cacau, yeah, personally I'd take him over Kiessling as well...but that would still only make him striker #4 and I don't think that Löw would pick him ahead of Kiessling.

Thinking about what you said...you actually have a point regarding Cacau. He's a different kind of striker to what we have at the moment, also, he won't make any troubles if he doesn't play like Kuranyi. So he might be a good joker for the NT.

So here are the scenarios for Stuttgart:

If Wolfsburg loss: win = Bundesliga Title :D
loss or tie + Hertha loss or tie = CL Qualifying

If Wolfsburg win or tie: win = CL Group Stage
loss or tie + Hertha loss or tie = CL Qualifying

I am so psyched...can't wait for the game to start...little bit more than 14h...

The great thing is that no matter what happens, we can be extremely proud of our team. Should we win this game, I'll be the happiest person, no matter how Wolfsburg plays and should we lose and Hertha passes us, then we are still in Europe next season which I wouldn't have believed would be possible when Babbel took over...so bring it on and let's make Bayern run for their money...

Buzzing like crazy now. I'm off to Schlossgarten in 10 minutes, gonna find a neat place to watch this game but I hear town's already packed.

Gotta love Aleks's motivation factor :)

If we finished fourth? I'll be disappointed, but not for long. This team can be proud of what they've achieved this year either way.

Boulahrouz made to look a fool yet again. This guy has been a total donkey for us all year with only a couple exceptions. I always thought he was overrated as hell, but hoped for the best when we signed him. Oh well. Europacup would have been a joy just a few weeks ago, so not going to spend too much time crying.
