Turned it into the closest finish perhaps in history? Nah, that doesn't take my excitement away.

If Bayern win the title against us on the last day, that will hurt. But they still aren't playing brilliantly and have got 3 very hard last matches in front of them. We will see what happens.

My Tabellenrechner put Hertha on top today  I think it's been a different team each week for like 5 weeks now though.

I wouldn't have even imagined Stuttgart being in the position they are in now in the beginning two months of the season( with the results, and Veh and all). It's like thinking about Schalke in this situation, impossible! :D

yeah, the situation with hertha is interesting. Their run in seems piss easy on paper compard to bayern's or wolfsburg's.

I actually doubt bayern will win the title; it just takes away a good reason to smile when the gap between them and the top becomes smaller

Well, that is just a fantastic result and totally deserved based on the performance. Awesome. That said, I'm going to be really pissed if we don't finish up by beat Bayern, because I can't stand the idea of having helped them to the title.

From what I've heard, Heldt and Magath actually get along very well, so that rumor is maybe more disconcerting for us VfB fans than we had previously thought. Heldt's contract runs for three more years, I think, so if he did want to head North, there would have to be some money headed our way.

Congrats on the impressive win over Golfsburg! :) 4 goals from Super-Mario  ... damn, if he'd only play that well for the national team, too.

He will play that good, but it might take 1 to potentially 2-3 years until he plays THIS good. It will take the team playing more to his strengths (more through balls), him scoring a few and breaking his goal drought and of coarse a bit of luck that every striker needs. I have always said this, just have patience with him as Germany have a gem in their hands.

It's just a matter of confidence. He'll get a lucky goal or two and things will fall into place from there. He was doing fine for Germany before the Euros, albeit against weak opponents. A couple of bad misses can really damage your confidence, especially when you don't have any real experience on that level. He has all the tools. It'll happen eventually.

edit : whoops i realised this is the stuttgart thread, but i don't mean any aggro, you know that ;)

Gomez got an 8.5 even though he scored 4 vs the #1 team and Gerrard got an 8.5 for scoring 2 goals vs a crap EPL team. Consistency for the win Goal.failure

It'll happen when he wears his VfB trikot under his Germany top...... ;)

I totally understand that. I don't know that anyone can truly predict who will win this thing.

I'm just enjoying the ride.

Remember what I was saying about how Cacau should get into the NT? :D

http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/nationalelf/startseite/artikel/508587/

Looks like he and Traesch both have a chance of making the Asia trip. For Traesch i'd be really surprised, he's made huge leaps forward this season, no one would have expected him to be the rightback starter by the end of this, but I still think it would be way too earlier to get an NT nomination. Especially if Khedira has yet to get one.

Well, they play different positions. There is more room at Träsch's position than at Sami's.

Hitzlsperger finds room in Sami's position on the NT, and you could hardly say he's played a better season than Khedira.

OK, so Wolfsburg, Bayern and Hertha unfortunately all seem to be heading towards another 3 points today which is very bad news for us.

The bright point is that if Dortmund do indeed lose as they look on course to do at the moment, then we'll be looking good for European qualification.

If these results stay the same, this is how I view our potential results tomorrow:

3 points = We stay in the running for a Champions League spot and a minuscule shot at the title.
1 point = No more title dreaming, and Champions League would be very hard to see happening. However, we'd be 4 points ahead of 6th, which would leave us needing only to beat Cottbus over the weekend to make it into Europe for next season.
0 points = Champions League out of the question. Will remain ahead in the battle to make top 5, but will really have to bite our nails in the coming games.

I am really hoping that the final game against Bayern has us playing for the title. It would be amazing to win against them for the title. Even better if that games outcome would decide the title between us and Bayern.

MARIO GOMEZ IS OUT of tonight's match! Babbel just said that he hurt himself at the end of training yesterday and is not 100%, so they will not chance him!!

Terrible news just before the game starts. That's terrible...

if the team can get a win without him, then truly anything is possible.

Vital, vital game, COME ON BOYS!

Starting now!
