Hi.
There are some discussions over an another part of the boards (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=919801) regarding qualification for the Copa Sulamericana (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copa_Sudamericana) - CONMEBOL's broad equivalent to the UEFA Cup - in which the suggestion has emerged that should CONMEBOL send an invite to a non-Mexican team in CONCACAF, Montréal could get it!
(For that to happen, the Impact would have to be the highest-finishing non-Mexican team in this year's CCL which would not qualify for next year's Champions League... assuming CONMEBOL actually plan to use that criteria for this year's round of invitations.)
So, my question to you is this:
Say that the Impact do, indeed, end up being eligible to go to the South American tournament - but in order to do so, would have to end up not winning the Voyageurs Cup this summer (and thus missing out on another CCL run in the autumn).
Would the chance to play in the Sulamericana be worth more than a second run at the Champions League, or would you rather see the Impact remain in the CONCACAF competition?
(Personally, I think either would be fine - having the potential invite in their back pocket going into the NCC would be no bad thing, plus one could end up seeing 2 Canadian clubs competing in international club tournaments, if the 'Caps or TFC did win the Championship...)
