Well, after that horrendous Clausura 08, I guess was was a nice, welcome change to watch El Ogro (Fabianni) assist RIVER to win a couple games. But, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end - and a pretty nasty one as RIVER has recently become so very well accustomed to.

Russo of San Lorenzo knew - as most of us did - that Fabianni is only 1 man in a field of 22. No matter how effective his presence on the field may be, RIVER's middle is simply a mess and Ojeda still has a lot to learn. Therefore all they had to do was score 2 or 3 times and if Fabianni happens to score - or assist on - a goal or two, we still win. And...if we score FIVE goals, well then RIVER will be F0CKED.

Well it worked; and RIVER again managed to log yet another historic loss. The last time SL beat RIVER by the same score was in 1957...that's right 52 years ago. How much history has RIVER rewritten in just six months...OK STOP - never mind! jezz

I think Gorosito knew this as he tried to tone down the excitement over Fabianni while most (if not all) within CARP had decided to forget the recent past and pin all hopes on the thin, sheet of ice of hope created by an affable yet chubby player. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy and his feelings for the club are moving - if not naive. And I can't say I didn't LOVE THOSE WINS; we sure needed them. But I knew this was coming, as I told my friends. I just didn't think would be this soon in the season; that it would be San Lorenzo, and surely not by that margin.

54 years...Man I wasn't even an itch in my daddy's pants . Why I have to be a witness to this I'll never know. I only hope RIVER somehow overcomes all this SH1T...before I die.:o

Your post doesn't seem sarcasm nor reality ... hence, I disagree. Why blame Fabbiani? Of course he is 1 man of 22. No one on the River camp ever said he was Messi or CR7. He didn't come in with a goal down, nor with the score tied ... you guys were down 1-4 at half time! And before he could do anything else than getting a yellow card, it was already 1-5.

But on the bright side, between the 0-3 and the 1-4, for roughly 30 minutes, you guys played the best football of the past year. No, it wasn't in Rosario nor against Banfield ... where the results didn't show what happened on the field.

It was a weird match, since the score was already 0-1 before the 30th second, and before River could even TOUCH the ball! And 0-2 on the 5th minute.

I watched the game with some gallina friends. Yesterday, Godoy Cruz fans were down, since they hadn't received 4 not even when they were relegated, can you imagine my friends faces when I mentioned that stat? And Vignolo kept on rubbing that 1957 result during the broadcast ...

Heads-up my friends ... at least Gallardo is back on the team. :D

Well, well, well...look what the cat dragged in. Aren't I just lucky. RIVER looses 5-1 to SL and the first reply I get is from a dissagreeing bostero. Just what I needed - bosta icing on the cake. You should know better than to come here displaying those....colors. Guess what? I could give a rat's ass about your opinion. Be a good boy, crawl back into the hole you came out of and go kiss Palermo's drag queen ass! :p

Fabbiani came in when the game was already 1-4. How could you give credit to Russo for knowing "that Fabianni is only 1 man in a field of 22"?

I wasn't all too happy with the game, and know that River played very poorly, but you must admit that the result was very exagerrated and could have been different on any other given day. San Lorenzo had what, 6 or 7 shots in 90 minutes?

I am not expecting River to win the Libertadores or anything, but I am not going to get all super-pesimistic just yet. Like I said after the game vs. Boca, though, River needs a change and players like Abelairas can't be starting anymore.

I think lxr has mostly agreed with what I read from your comments.

As for me not writing a respectful post on these boards or not reading these boards at all (be it first or last) would really limit my mod role.

So chill out, learn to express yourself without insults and cruise this 1-5 with some honour.

I have read my comments 10 times and frankly do not know where you conclude that I was BLAMING Fabianni for what happened against SL.

First I said RIVER's middle and overall defense sucks. Second, I said Ojeda is not a very good GK as he could have blocked at least two of those goals if he had had better judgement. Then I pointed out RIVER's eternal inability to come back from a less than favorable score. Lastly I said that Russo recognized all these weaknesses and knew that if he exploited them quickly, RIVER would not be able to recover, even if 3 Fabianni's were put into the game. So you tell me where I said Fabianni is to blame. Clear enough?

Now regarding Fabianni, yes he is big, strong, somewhat skillful and adds some to RIVER's strengths. But, as we saw, he is also a little clumsy. The NFL football tackle that awarded him a yellow card 5 SECONDS after he came into the SL game is just a sample what a normal block can look like when Fabianni does it. Rest assured, all teams from now on will double-team, pick on and otherwise harrass the hell out of him in an attempt to have him repeat the deed.
