Well, someone's gotta start this thread . . .
Liverpool v Manchester City
Wednesday 11 February 2004
3pm ET/12 noon PT
No TV coverage in the US
Possible LFC Teamsheet:
....................Dudek
Finnan--Hyypia--Henchoz--Carragher
Le Tallec--Hamann--Gerrard--Kewell
................Owen--Cheyrou
I'm just guessing as to the front-runner situation; Owen would be up top, and Cheyrou withdrawn a bit. Heskey is still out, and Baros isn't expected to be ready until the Cup tie on Sunday. Smicer is still injured as well. I also assume that Diouf (and Diao) won't be available.
Subs:
Luzi
Traore
Murphy
Biscan
FSP
Discuss.

Presumably the same team that started against Everton and Bolton will play again. Has to gel sometime.
I hate games against opponents who haven't won in eons. Makes me itchy. Add the Fowler/McManaman/James/Barton factor and it's all a bit of a hide-behind-the-sofa game.
I shall be there, so match report tomorrow.

No doubt. I just hope City exhausted their supply of good luck last Wednesday and didn't rebuild their supply over the weekend.

I was wrong. Heskey is available:

So pair Owen and Heskey up top; Cheyrou in place of Le Tallec. Le Tallec to the bench, and Traore out of today's squad. BTW, it looks as if Kirkland is back as well, so I'd guess he'll replace Luzi on the bench.

City have had much the same problem we've had this year. Lots of big name and potentially good strikers...no goals!!!
Just hope that they haven't broken out of their slump before us.
On paper they're a good team in the league tables they suck .
Funny how that happens...!

Normally, that's the case. But today the priorities were not set by me.

Underway.
Riley is ref. Misty conditions.
TLT to Cheyrou to Owen in 1st minute. Cut out barely.
Henchoz clears ManCity counter.

LFC attacking Annie Road end, BTW.
Kewell cross to Owen just misses. MCFC clear. Kewell again, Cheyrou to Hamann to Owen—
OWEN!!!! 1-0 Brilliant through-ball from Hamann. Owen mobbed by teammates. Third minute.

Seemingly little. Soccernet's GameCast shows only two shots taken, both by us. Didi just let one fly wide right from about 35 yards.
15 mins.
