You believe incorrectly about me. It's not sour grapes. I just don't care about the Olympic soccer tournament. I don't care about the Olympics in general.

I would imagine the WC qualifiers the US team (the full US Team, not the U-23s) will play this year are more important. How many players on last nights team will be in those qualifiers? A few but not most I'd say.
And McOwen, when you have to buy a round for Lot 8, make sure it's the good stuff. No more of that Rolling Rock crap, comprende? ;)

If you need any more proof that no one thinks that the Olympics are important( by the way, I disagree), read this:

Casey could get release for a friendly, but not for Olympic qualifying? That stings. :(
If for no other reason, many people who are not normally fans of the sport will tune in to big worldwide events like the Olympic and World Cup. I myself could not have named 2 female soccer players before I watched the US Women win the World Cup a few years ago. Now I still follow them - maybe not to the extent that I follow MLS or some of the European teams, but still a lot more than before, which was not at all. All I'm saying, IMO, is that you shouldn't write-off the Olympics as an un-important event.

Casey is not released to play the Holland friendly. It is on an internation date so players are available.
My take on the Olympics and all Youth level tournaments is that I would love to win every game we play but the real point of the thing is to develop some of the players who will be on the Senior National Team. At the U23 level I would hope that 4-6 of those players will play a role in the WCQ this go round and maybe a few more than that the next time.

This should give a professional viewpoint on the match!
