Do you and how do you all celebrate?
Usually in Peru, we play with water on Sundays during the month of February. Add talco (baby powder) in a sock (mata chola) and beat the heck out of people for fun.
If you ride in a car or public transportation, you'd better have the windows closed. Kids love to throw water ballons at the passing traffic.

empezo el carnaval de la Pollera coloraa!
serpa y el alcalde dieron rienda suelta a las Puyas y cumbia.
RCN tiene tarima y calle cerrada para todo el carnaval, la reina esta buenisima y baila mejor, que curramera tan simpatica!

jaja....que bien efer....I also want go to Brazil someday for their Carnaval...
I am going to Bahia, Brazil for Carnaval in January. I went in 2003 and had a great time. It's very expensive though. However I'd really intended to go to Barranquilla Carnaval in Colombia, but I couldn't find enough information about accomodations. Maybe in 2006, I really want to go to Barranquilla.

Thank you Pibe, I've viewed these sites before, looks interesting indeed. My espanol is basically nada, so it was hard to find information in english about Barranquilla Carnaval on the net, however, Brazil's carnival for Bahia, Recife & Rio had a wealth of information it seems.
I had problems about learning of peoples' opinions of Barranquilla and the carnaval, joining bands in the parade, and most importantly accomodations, but not Brazil.
However that intrigues me more as I'm sure it wouldn't be as overrun by tourists like in Rio. Hopefully in 2006.
