Well, I figured that was inevitable. As long as satellite remains a better value and offers better services, I can deal with that. This war between content providers and distributors is going to get a little silly I guess.

We could still see a satellite price war though. While this article irrationally focused on satellite rates, probably due to Murdoch's profile and the stigma attached to him, cable rate increases have compounded over a number of years. DirecTV still offers a great deal more in the way of price stability and cost certainty since prices have stayed stable for three years or so. Plus, for me anyway, the service and picture are much better. A comparable Comcast package would cost me close to $100 a month and I'd actually get fewer options.
