The Nike Air Zoom Total 90 3 is the topic of many a conversation and threads around here and more often its about the cosmetic "flaws" we see in the boots.

I personally like the shoe more every time I see it but that is not the topic. I got a lot of info on the boot from a shop owner in my area and here you go.

1) The reason for the outsole change on the FG and SG models- The FG has a new design due to pressure from Nike sponsored clubs in Europe who's youth team members kept getting the same knee injuries from the AZT 902, Man Utd and others have banned the FG model of the boot in their youth squads until they come out with the new outsole. The SG was changed due to the popularity of regular screw ins with Pro's and the fact that once your studs on the fixed outsole SG model wear down the boot is useless.

2)Whats with the 90 and the big circle- It represents a full 90 minutes played.

3)No fold over flap to cover the lace not-Most all pros wearign the boot cut that off and nike just felt they should do away with it since it was an unpopular feature

On a side note i have seen the chrome turf model of the cheaper Total 90 that will retail for about $75 and the circle and 90 on the inside dont look bad at all to be honest, the boot is sharp over all and I think its going to be one of those things you have to see with your own eyes to geta full perspective on.

Thanx for the heads up....I still think it's an ugly boot though :) Personally I was just disappointed with what Nike brings out in 2004:
1. Updated Vapour: just a couple of new lines, colours and added collarpadding. Do they expect us to pay another $180 for THAT??? Probably you have to because the old Vapours fell apart...
2. AZT Total90 III: worst designupdate ever... although the functional bits make sense (wonder why adidas FG outsoles never had those problems though)
If Nike wants to be nr.1 than they should do less of that cocky talking (like saying they'll be leaders in 2006) and more better products.

Adidas has brought out a complete range of new exciting and innovative stuff: Predator Pulse, F50, Aveiro and I haven't even mentioned the new ball yet!

I coudn'y agree mor. This is the boot for players who want to play to the best of their abilities..... Not the ones who think they look good and do nothing all game. The technolodgy is the best I have ever seen, interchangeble soles, this will stop us from having to pay for more than one boot per season. Screw in studs is another brilliant idea, because after owning a pair of the current AZT's I found that A) when the pitch was really really muddy, i didnt have much traxion and B) that the metal caps would fall off after a while.

I kind of like the toungue on the azt II's. It added a nice old school touch to it. I never had any problems with this "knee injury". I don't like the new total 90's the colors just don't look right. But what do I know?
