View Full Version : Man City will earn UEFA cup spot!

Prediction: Manchester City will earn a UEFA cup spot at the end of the season.
City has been terribly unlucky this season, hitting the post repeatedly and giving up unlucky goals to the opposition.
They now have a new keeper, which they needed. Anelka is red hot. And the lads are ready for a break out...a break out from their frustrating string of draws that really should have been victories.
City are not far off the pace really for a spot in the UEFA cup. I say they make it by June.

I doubt it. They'll finish mid-table, about 11th I'd say.

I'd like to think so. I like Keegan alot.
He may not be (in fact he certainly isn't) the best manager around but there aren't many other managers who wear their heart on their sleeve quite as much as he does.

Fat chance.

Highly unlikely.
They would need to finish in 5th place to do so - unless the league cup winners finish in 5th- and i very much doubt that will happen.
Are you Gringo Tex in disguise :p

Or reach the FA Cup final. I think their next opponents in that competition will want to have a say on that one.

Sadly, you're probably right. Since it looks like two different teams playing the league and in the FA Cup, maybe they'll get to Europe and get relegated!
Has that happened in England? I know that Kaiserslautern did it not too long ago.

I understand your thinking and actually think Man City are better than their results but you guys are on the edge of real danger being only a couple points from the drop not a couple points from Europe. I think Keegan should have dropped Folwer a long time ago as he doesn't score and I know goalscorers go through that but he has had ample oppotunities to not only score goals but in doing that win games that they desperately need. I like your support for your club but got to think realistic here and know that your club is very close to being back in the 1st division and not in Europe.

I bet Noel Gallagher would love to see Man City get a UEFA cup.

All Blues would, but we might have to go through a Carling/Worthington/99-cent Spotless Carwash Cup or two before that happens.
I'd love to see City get back to Europe next year, but unless they run the table, it'll take something else for there to be a chance.

I've been home and away all year and we've played awful football sometimes, and been unlucky a few times.
Dunne: Good, but usually makes one error which costs us a goal
Sun Jihai: Awful positioning
Tarnat: Bring back Jensen, he cant really do anything
Van Buyten: A class act, but probably leaving at the end of the season
Sweep: Another class act, but we need a team full of players, not individuals
Macca: Points alot, errr thats it
Barton: The lad is good, but I dont rate him
Bosvelt: ONly played well once or twice this year, to my recallations
Fowler: Getting better slowly, but cant do anything without anelka
Anelka: Our best player, but hogs the ball too much for my liking, seems to have cut it out lately though.

11 games left 13 points behind and most certainly not better than Liverpool, Charlton, Birmingham, Spurs, Fulham.
Don't make stupid statements City are more likely to go down, you are 3 points off relegation you know and Pompey have a game in hand ready to drag you in!

Oh, please...until you actually win one or two, you don't even come close to having the right to shrug it off.

Back when it was just the Football League Cup (before you were born, I'm guessing), Man City won it twice. The way things are going these days, the League Cup is City's best hope to get back into Europe, and I hope I'm alive to see it, even though the cup probably will have a car wash sponsor by then.

I'd like to see Man City have some success, as well. Anyway to get them into Europe and succeed on any level would be nice (as long as it doesn't interfere with LFC, of course).

I'm surprised you haven't mentioned Shaun Wright-Phillips. For the past two months he has been by far your best player. City have decent players but have absolutely no defence. Van Buyten is a good player surrounded by crap ones at the back, Richie Dunne is the biggest waste of space in the premiership he fat, slow and a clutz, I laughed for a bout a month when Henry scored a hat-trick against ye last season Dunne was made look a fool by Thierry.
The problem is your manager, he's too focused on going forward and forgets about defending, You are a classic Kevin Keegan side, he was the same at Newcastle and with England. Good man manager but dire overall manager. It's the same thing that's holding Spurs and Blackburn Rovers back from being good teams.
