i want to start a punk band

hmm. but those bands were far more horrible than most of today music. ramones less than the sex pistols, they are truely terrible.

there is great music still, you just have to find it. "punk" music stinks unless you're 13 and your parents are keeping you down, then you can use it as a cheap outlet for your feelings.

Punk has been done. Either you need to bring something new to the table along those lines and be REALLY good(highly unlikely) or just do your own damn thing. You can still use punk as a base but add something totally new to it. Else, just become a Clash or Ramones cover band, theres nothing anyone can do thats much better than them(in terms of punk ofcourse).

If you read my post again, you'll see that "Wanting" is italicized and it's for a reason. I'm not telling the kid to not play punk. Rather, I'm telling the kid to stop wanting to play punk and just do it.
