Hell yeah they mentioned that Castillo & Montes have caught an eye by promoters .... :)

Pacheco al New York RED BULLS...

20-Febrero-2009

Columnista: Mauricio Rivas

Putting the info in the correct thread.... ;)

Red Bulls Pre-season update
The Red Bulls will be signing a left back before the season starts. The question at this point is which left back. Salvadorean defender Alfredo Pacheco remains the favorite to be signed.

He is hated because he is very arrogant, or maybe he is serious.

Pacheco is not arrogant at all. Have you heard him speak? He is serious when he has to be, he wears his heart on his sleeve and plays the game with passion. He gets tempermental at times because he plays with such intensity. Few people hate him, and the ones that do are very idiotic. Or there still sore about the game were he knocked some fan out. He thought he was attacking him for gods sake.
BTW, i'm not trying to argue mate. Just trying to defend el chele.

Trialists Alberto Celades, Jaime Duran and Alkie Edwards in camp

Sorry for the sporadic posting last week, but as I mentioned, I went back and forth to North Carolina twice; first to visit a sick relative, then for a funeral. But I'm back in the flow of things, headed to a Knick game, but wanted to share some Red Bull thoughts with you before I bounce.

First, I keep getting these questions/comments about Juan Carlos Osorio getting a "CAM.'' Other than the fact that's a creation of EA Sports (hey, I like FIFA 09 as much as the next guy), you cats need to accept Jorge Rojas is playing in the middle of the park. Hate him or not, he's your guy.

Yes, they have interest in Cristian Castillo, but there are a whole lot of steps between interest and signing. He won't come free. And speaking of cost, Salvadoran reports on left-back Alfredo Pacheco are talking a one-year loan for $30,000 or a purchase at $100,000. Again, reports. We'll see.

Second, as I've mentioned a number of times don't expect the Red Bulls to open with a back four of Goldthwaite, Petke, Boyens and Leitch. I'll buy Goldie and Petke in the middle, but I keep saying Osorio and Jeff Agoos are going to add at least one defender, and I'm sticking by that. But who?

Four weeks from the March 19 opener _ Could MLS possibly have picked a worse day? More on that later _ they like Emilio Izaguirre and even CD FAS admits they'll likely get Pacheco, scouted by Agoos two weeks ago in L.A. for El Salvador's 1-0 win vs. Peru. He told local media he expects an offer once RBNY returns from Argentina, and called a move to MLS "a dream.''

Anyway, they have Alberto Celades, Jaime Duran and Aklie Edwards on trial, and will even check out some out-of-contract Argentines. Here are some tidbits on the trialists:

Yes I know but we have to remember the Trinidad and Tobago game. He saved us with that goal he scored. Even though we didn't make it to other round but still we weren't in the bottom.
