Why is this board chalk full of stuff about boots? Is this all "players" have to talk about? We have had a discussion on this board about every kind of boot on the face of the planet. Let's talk about something else!

Boot talk has always been here and I dont think it will leave... well boots and training. I guess boots is what players talk about. I like talking 'bout boots but if you dont there are other forums. Although we probably could chang the name from player to boots.:)

If you want to talk about something other than boots, create a thread in the player forum about something other than boots.

Face it, soccer players don't wear a much equipment, and boots are the most imprtant thing, so expect players to talk about thier soccer shoes, just like a tennis player might talk about rackets or a basketball player might talk about a new pair of air Jordans.

yes, I agree with you, but I mean, why so many threads about the same thing? I mean, I can count 3 threads about adidas predator pulse on the same page, and 1 on the next. I'm just saying I dont want to come online and see 4 threads for each boot in existance. Talk about boots doesnt bug me at all, and I like most of it, but when you have 80 polls about what someones favorite boot is, and 1,000 suggestions, each its own little thread, and then people duplicating that, this is how I see the player forum in the future. Look around for a thread about your boot before you post about it!

i agree, most important thing for a player is boots (some keepers may say gloves, but i'm a keeper and i say boots)

maybe Player should have a sub-forum about equipment?

You don't understand. Buying expensive boots actually makes you a better player. Fluffed shots, misplaced passes or failing to mark an attacker, are never due to lack of training, fitness, or just being crap. No, they can all be blamed on not having the right boots.

The same principle applies to golf. If you go to the driving range and find that you can't hit a ball straight to save your life, don't waste your time on practicing or trying to improve your swing. Just go out and buy an expensive set of clubs and you'll be playing like Tiger Woods in no time.

Oh... I see your point. People should definitely try to avoid duplicating threads, I'm with you there.

I think on most boards, these threads would be merged, but I don't think the player board is moderted as tightly. I also think the player board is where a lot of new BS users post, so I think you'll see a lot of that.

Check with the heads of BS, maybe you could moderate this forum to cut down on duplicates.

I think what we have here is a failure to communicate. If you read between the lines we've probably got a bunch of Nike sales reps posting and a bunch of Adi reps replying. Kind of like that dude hocking the soccer helmet on the youth or ref forum by "asking" about the latest rulings on them.

Now for real players....let's talk jock straps! I'll only wear Bike brand, they're the best!

No support needed, mates, since I've had my operation.

A problem is that people put importance in their threads just like they put importance in their choice of shoes, so when I tried closing and merging threads in the past people got upset. I'm not sure where the happy medium is yet, but I will try to make a more orderly forum now that people have spoken here.

Please don't take me the wrong way. Personally, I don't mind that there sometimes duplicates. I was just pointing out that this forum isn't moderated as tightly as some, and I think I should ad, I don't think it need to be quite as tight - IMHO.

I can see how closing or merging one person's thread on shoes could get them upset.

Hope you didn't take my post the wrong way. I enjoy checking the player forum every once in a while. It's not a knock on the mods in the forum.

Spejic- I think you do a great job in here, It's not your fault that people post threads about things already being talked about, maybe you should put a stickey up top and explain to all new posters in here what would be a thread that would get merged.

I think that's a good idea.

The Shoe discussion sticky.

Here's one thought, maybe the players forum needs a "shoe" subforum?

I didnt start this to rip on spejic at all! It was more of a plead to have people look around before they duplicate posts, but i guess the people that would duplicate posts wouldnt read this anyways. Heres an idea though. When someone posts somethign about a boot, put its name on a sticky, that says "Do not duplicate these..." Just a suggestion, and this board is fine w/o it

HaHaHa, that made me chuckle for ages, you are joking i take it?

I just wear good old briefs.
Never wear white boxers when playing though, a mistake i made when i was younger. Never cleared the stains, and they were well expensive Diesel ones to.

Let's keep this on topic here, boot talk and why there's so much of it.

Don't need to know what type of under garments people are wearing and if you stained them.

If your'e so desperate to talk about the 'topic'. then why didnt you mention anything about the topic in your post. And, surely someone mentioning the clogging of the board with boot talk makes jjock strap talk refreshing?
Chill out man, get a bird and stuff...... Jese
