I think that part of the site must be down or something, because I haven't been able to get into the game for close to 24 hours.

I set up my team yesterday, but had to quit before I got in the BS league. No luck today getting in at all - I'll try from the office tomorrow.

FireFootyFan is back for more mid-table excitement!

The site seems to be working again now. Good luck.

After a painful fade at the end of last season as management put all resources into the search for a new home ground, Fatass Losers FC is back under a new, more marketable name. We have gone so far as to move to London to get the jump on all premiership news. As a result the new team name is Finchley Road FC. But don't worry, the same inept management remains in place. Things will either be much better or much worse than last year; our only goal is to do differently from last year - extremes are our policy.

I have created a Big Soccer private league, the code to join this league is: kopiteinkc@opl_62351

The site seems to be far more stable now and is accepting logins and passwords without any trouble.

So if you tried to get in over the weekend, try again now. We have close to 20 teams in our league and it would be nice to get close to 32 for a cup competition.

Is anyone prepared to run any cup competitions this year?

Needham SC is in... (current leaders in the big soccer group over at The Sporting News salary cap game). I guess now we'll find out how much of a fluke our brilliant start over there has been....

Wiltord as captain last night got the 1800-WorldCup.com team off to a healthy start in the pre-season 3.... but with transfers costing 4 points during the season (and a 50% tax), I can't see us going for many weekly changes :(

Still 3 slots open in the "alternate universe" CYKI division wherein each player will only be allowed to exist on one team.

We're getting set to hold a pre-season draft this week as soon as we fill the final 3 spots.

Respond and/or PM with your email if interested.

OK I'm in (not the 'live draft' - the normal one)
After much buggering around last week.

Decided on a squad only for Veira to sod things up and get sent off. Getting rid of him before the season proper starts.
He'll be losing me points whilst he's suspended.

Excelsior Novgorod - btw.

Congrats to Peoples Front Judea for winning the preseason contest.

Michel won the final week of preseason.

We now have 22 in the mix, good luck to all, one week to go before it starts for real.

Transfer now!

Ok, last chance to join in before it gets underway today. For details on how to join, seep age 1 of this thread.

Any interested in running some cup competitions?

Ok, they extended the pre-season, so you have until this Friday if you are not signed up already.

23 teams in so far.

When do transfers start costing points?
Before or after this Fridays deadline?

Logically it would be after Fridays deadline.

My reasoning on that is that you have until the deadline to set your team up, transferring players in and out, all in preparation for "Week 1".

Then after the deadline any transfers (after the first one) will start to cost. 4 points for each one.

What will be interesting is how the value of players will change. The prices have been static through pre-season, after friday those prices will change.

It seems to me that players who have been racking up points and previously been valued lower than expected will rise rather rapidly. Inamoto, Etherington, Wiltord, couple of Boro players, spring to mind.

However, some players who have not been getting the points (injury or off form) might see their values plummet.

OK just to be sure I get how this works (previous years I've filled my bench with nonplayers so it's not been an issue): if I had Kewell on my roster and he didn't play, CYKI will automatically sub my first choice player for him, even though this sub is a defender? It's a 6 point swing if this is the case, with Legwinski still to play tonight... not a bad start for Finchley...
