I just watched the toon-city match and was very impressed with the play of City. Fast flowing play, aggressive, attacking football. Entertaining to the end. Is there actually a Manchester City or do fans just classify a portion of town as "city"? FSW stated the game was actually in Manchester City which I never heard of.

I was at the game on saturday,superb atmosphere as always and now we've got a team to match!
I don't know where your bloke got that from! City
are located about 2 miles south of Manchester city
centre as opposed to our much-celebrated neighbours who are in the borough of Trafford,just
outside Manchester! Even "foreign" managers can't
get their heads round having 2 teams here,Houllier
& Wenger often refer to United as "Manchester",a
bit of an insult really,as we get avarage gates of 34,000,and have won everything there is to win
domesticaly & the Europpean Cup-Winners Cup
(albeit a few years ago!)

That was a fun game to watch. I really liked City's style.

Question: Announcers mentioned they were moving from Maine Rd. Looked like a nice stadium on TV. Too small? How far is it from where they are now?

We're moving at the end of this season to the "City
of Manchester" Stadium,a couple of miles down the
road! Maine Road has been Citys home since 1923
and has a capacity of around 34,000 which sells out every match,with a large waiting list for new season tickets.Maine Rd,like many other grounds over here,is smack in the middle of a residential area.With the demise of supporters being able to stand at matches,the capacities have been slashed dramatically and there is simply no room to expand the stadium. The new ground has been built (mainly
for the Commonwealth Games) in conjunction with City,in a recently "re-generated" part of East Manchester where all the old houses were flattened in the 60s.It has a capacity of 48-49,000 and should be an excellent stadium to watch the Blues!

Bert still turns up a Maine Road once a year,and ALWAYS gets a heroes reception,despite the majority of the crowd being to young to have seen him play!! Another old favourite,Roy Paul,died this summer...a real pity!

I didn’t even know he was still kicking so to speak, fortunately I’m ‘NOT’ too young to have seen him play.
I started playing in goal after he got his bloody neck broken at Wembley. I remember there was a move to get him naturalized so he could play for England but it wasn’t on in those days.
I was at the cup replay match when Liddell scored passed Bert just as (after, some people say) the ref blew the final whistle. We were in Div 2 then and the next year we hired Shankly and a whole new game.
Always had good ones with the sky blues though.
Sorry to hear about Roy, another favourite.

I was finally able to watch a tape of the Newcastle tape over the weekend. What a difference from April of '01!
A few random thoughts:
Did Benarbia ever touch the ball without improving City's attack? Some absolutely beautiful passes.

The defense looked a little 'hello, my name is...', but I trust that will pass.

Huckerby certainly gets himself about in the box, but I hope we don't have cause to rue his inefficiency.

Sean Wright-Phillips is simply a joy to watch.
I wasn't delighted to see Rudolf in goal, but he obviously still has something left.

I love that we now have a midfield in which Danny Tiatto is a substitute. I really like him as a player, but he's clearly the 5th best, unless you want to emphasize defense.
