There is no logical explantion other than maybe French supporters are more apathetic than anywhere else in the world. It's got to be the least fanatical out of all the major soccer playing countries.

LOL.
It's also true that compared to a lot of nations, we do not defend our football enough.
But on the other hand, how could we.
To defend something, you gotta have something to defend, and you have to admit that lately our performances in Europe have been a disgrace.
But i ask you, how can we dream to win something if every year we sell our best players ( whether french or foreigners ).
It can be done, simple.

I would say that your clubs have done quite well in this euro season. The previos 2-3 years were bad. I hope you can continue this upwards trend and I think there is good reason for hope. The clubs with the bigest financial potential, PSG and Marseille were victims of bad managment which is hopefuly behind them. And Lyon has a emerged as the third major club. Add to that Nantes, Bordeaux, Monaco,Nice, Auxere, Lens, Sochaux and St. Etiene as clubs with decent potential and you have a very good league.
There were some very good threads in the past discusing why the french league isn't stronger I could find if you'd like to read them.

Well, I am french and i love football but i cant stand French league anymore. I prefer much more International football, Uefa competition, english and italian championships.
I am pretty sure i m not the only one in this case.

Hey, I found you. Also Fox Sports World televising Ligue 1 this season, should draw old and new fans.
One suggestion, the fans in here, should continue to embrace Ligue 1 and nurture the new fans. Keep posting...people will notice on the homepage.
It takes time.

Why (Pourquoi?)
I ask because I only get 1-2 games a week here in the U.S. and am interested in why you can't stand the French league.

Well, the reason is simple. What is the point supporting a team, when there is 95% chances that, if a player from this team starts to be good, he d leave to another european clubs.
I m not whinning about this situation, it is simply a fact.
And the reasons are obvious : Our clubs are poor and the tax system bloke any real competition with other euro championships.
It wont change for a while ...
Let s say, which is true, that i like Monaco. Do you really think Rothen, Giuly, Evra, Squillachi or even Prso would stay in this club if they continue to perform so well ? You cant appreciate a Club if the players change all the time, specially when they are good.
Well you can see my point ....

i get your point, but also don't you think that it's because our championship has lacked a real leader for like 10 years ? we don't have a bayern munchen, or a manchester utd.. well, we didn't.
now we have lyon (2002 and 2003 champions), and monaco (#2 in 2003, #1 this year) which are getting bigger and richer, and if the championship finds stabilization it should profit to a lot of clubs.
now it's true that our clubs are poorer because of the tax system, and because our clubs are not allowed to have as much debts as english or spanish clubs. but i think we are the leading country (or at least not far from it) for finding new talents. i just wish french clubs become more than a springboard for these new talents, rather than being loot by bastards such as houiller.
i think the situation is getting better for french clubs.

Sildegil I find your idea about not supporting a french team because the players changes to another big club when the are good as pathetic.
According to what you are saying all small european clubs should seize to exist.
And I don't know why one should follow the european cups. 10-20 years ago no fans and no clubs in europe considered the European cups as more than extra fun. The true nature of football is the cultural rivalry the teams have to each other through historical and cultural differences. As a Brondby Fan it's more important for me that the team beats rivals FC Copenhagen more than playing in the Championsleague.
And one thing more if you follow a team one should never stop following the team even it plays bad.
Not to be too hard but I hate gloryhunters in football.
Sorry to be hard on you, but i founded it necessary to shake you up a bit.
