I wish I didn't support my local team , their fckin' awful. Fckin' Unibond football, playing against sh!tty teams, in sh!tty grounds, with sh!tty food.
O' how I yearn for the brightlights of the Conference.

P.S went to watch the Celt's play at Barnet last season, beat 2-1, livin' the dream.

If I had a local team, I would support them like a team has never been supported. Biggest thing we have around here is a top 20 college team, of course I go see them and yell my head off. Matter of fact, I'm off to see them in a friendly against an amateur club team.

Why, where are you from? Can't you just pick the nearest MLS team and sorta pretend like you're a fan?

I'm not even remotely close to an MLS team.

Distance to "closest" MLS cities:

Columbus: 569 miles
Dallas: 638 miles
Chicago: 660 miles
Washington DC: 741 miles

Those are just too far away to even be able to remotely care about a particular team. I tune in to MLS on TV and enjoy it. I find myself pulling for the general success of the league so the national team will prosper. The national team is where I put my energy.

My town used to have a semi-pro team that was division 4 level or something, but they folded because there was no financial backing...I used to go to all of those games. They had good crowds, just no big financial backer. The closest A-League team is 150 miles away (in Atlanta.) I drive over there every now and then to watch them, but they are never on TV so its hard to keep up with it.

Like I said, the local university side is quite good. They tied both the Chicago Fire and Dallas Burn in exhibition matches, so they definately play good ball.

Oh, that's understandable I guess. With any luck, Atlanta will get an MLS team some day.

Otherwise you'll just have to hope the USSF keeps throwing Birmingham a bone every once in a while.

And they should. We get well over 20,000 for friendlies against teams nobody cares about (Tunisia, Ecuador) and we had great Olympic crowds.

I understand now. We move Reyna to right back and put Mother T as attacking mid.

UAB's Top20? Cool.

My Alma Mater (Alabama A&M) is living in the past (Div. II national championships in '77 and '79, Div I finalist in '81). Perhaps we'll be back at the top someday. My best NCAA hope now is Howard (NCAA champs in '71 and '74, lost '86 final to Indiana), in DC.

Yeah, they are picked to win the conference this year...and that's not bad with a conference including the likes of St. Louis and Furman. Some polls have them ranked as high as 14, while others have them as low as 23. Knowing the massive amount of talent they have now (mostly people from Texas and Ontario) I know the 14 is probably closer to the truth.
