I lived in Berlin last year and enjoyed it. I never joined a supporters group but I probably should've.

Union is a more working class club, especially due to it's location. I never saw anything that suggested socialism or anything like that, but I imagine it's there. The walk to the Union stadium is something else. It's like walking through the forest for awhile to get into the stadium. There was a small riot when I was there during the Spring against Rot-Weiss Ahlen (I think it was). I liked Hertha and keep up with the team, but Union is always my neighborhood club. Hope to see a regular derby next year.

Thanks for the info! I obviously like Hertha a lot, but Union seems like a pretty interesting club as well. I'll be living in South Berlin (near Osdorfer Strasse S-Bahn station), which puts me near the geographic center between the two clubs. I wanted to hit the ground running with the supporters clubs, but I think that I'll check out both atmospheres before putting time and energy towards one or the other. Hertha as the flagship club of Berlin is appealing, but I also like the kult aspect of Union...it'll be interesting to see the contrast.

We've signed 21 year old center defender Nemanja Pejcinovic from FK Rad Belgrade on loan. He played for Serbia in the U-21 championships.

To say our signings have been underwhelming would be true. I really don't believe Wichniarek can replace Pantelic, and that Pejcinovic or Janker can replace Simunic. I think Preetz might be saving for next year when we have to buy Cicero (which I think they should do now to be honest...).

We better hope either one of Domovchiyski or Chermiti (more likely Chermiti I think) can chip in with goals too. We still need IMHO a striker, wing defender and wing midfielder.

Congratulations to Hertha and Pejcinovic. He was one of our best players at U21 Euro. Those who watched know. His natural position is CB but he can also play in RB spot.

Thanks.

The reports say that he's been very good so far in friendlies.

Hertha are also in the midst of trialling Marseille left winger Andre Ayew and Croatian striker Ivan Perisic of FC Sochaux.

Rodnei has joined Kaiserslautern on loan.

My question: Why? We are really short of numbers in defense, unless Favre thinks Radjabali-Fardi is ready..

I guess this means our defense will look like this in the upcoming year

Pisczcek---------Friedrich----von Bergen--------Stein.

With Janker and Pejcinovic and Radjabali-Fardi as backup.
