Now that the transfer window has closed it is time to start our midseason draft.

It would be excellent to have this completed before this weekend's matches so we can all re-do our line-ups in time.

Is everybody ready?

You need a whole new team? I need a lobotomy for some of my choices this season.

I forget how to do tables. I did not include players transferring among EPL teams as they are already fair game.

I assume we are doing the draft in reverse order of the original draft?

God, I'm doing badly. :(

Not paying attention doesn't help either.

Can I make swaps now, or are rosters frozen?

The only players frozen are those listed above by Hal and those owned by other teams. All other players are still fair game.

I think it's imperative that we get this draft in before the next Matchday -- either Thursday or Friday. What I do with the direction of my team depends a lot of this draft, as I'm sure is true for other players, so we need to get moving.

If a player is not yet in the pool, a manager should still be able to select them. They must either transfer the player in or lose rights to him by the following match week. This should not hold things up.

How about for Thursday evening or Friday afternoon?

We don't even have to go live. We'll just start at the top - make a selection if you have someone you want to buy, pass if you want no one, or tell us to hold on a few hours. I don't see a need to wait - if you're waiting for a player valuation by fantasypremierleague, you can select his rights and then opt to sign or not sign him within the next 2 Matchdays.

Order of initial draft:
1. MtKillamanjohno -- W.ConnectionFC
2. 1800-WorldCup -- 1800-UK.com
3. Darr -- Nocturnal United
4. Ingromius -- London Saint-Germain
5. DoctorJones24 -- DC Chickenhawks
6. Clanblue -- Romans Roubles
7. BuffloSoldier -- New York United
8. JG_Revs -- Many Points FC
9. Hal -- Aviators
10. kopiteinkc -- Kopite Juniors

Order of transfer window draft:
1. kopiteinkc -- Kopite Juniors
2. Hal -- Aviators
3. JG_Revs -- Many Points FC
4. BuffloSoldier -- New York United
5. Clanblue -- Romans Roubles
6. DoctorJones24 -- DC Chickenhawks

Kopiteinkc, you're on the clock. Please make a pick soon if you have one, or let us know if you have a legitimate reason for waiting.

Anyone have a problem with this?

Sorry, he wasn't on the http://www.travelnotes.org/Football/Fantasy/index.htm site.

Graeme Stuart replaces Solano.

Sorry, Aris, Nolan is currently on the Winning Connections team and isn't available.

You need to check my latest postings on the squads in the Very Small Rocks season thread. Michel, 1800WorldCup, has not been keeping the web site updated.

Looking over the draft elligibles, it may be that the best part of the pool will be those released from teams to pick up the draftees. Remember, during the draft, that players released to acquire the drafted player are not elligible for general pick-up until after the draft. Rather, they become part of the pool of players elligible to be drafted.

Which players do I think will contribute the most to one's fantasy soccer team?

From the current draft pool, here are my picks for players who are likely to play significant minutes for their new team and may be good fantasy soccer scoring acquisitions:

Team To Name Position Fantasy Valuation
Arsenal Jose Antonio Reyes Midfielder 10.0
Bolton Javi Moreno Striker 5.0
Fulham Brian McBride Striker 5.5
Fulham Ian Pearce Defender 5.0
Fulham Carlos Bocanegra Defender 4.5
Leicester City Lee Morris Striker
Leicester City Steffen Freund Midfielder 5.0
Leicester City Steve Guppy Midfielder 4.1
Manchester City David James GK 5.5
Middlesbrough Ricardinho Midfielder
Tottenham Jermain Defoe Striker 8.0
Wolverhampton Ioan Ganea Striker 5.0

Of my picks for impact players, we are only awaiting valuations on Morris and Ricardinho. Can we agree on an estimate for these two and proceed? Somehow, my memory recalls Morris was around a 6.0 M player for Derby County, so let's assume he'll be valued at 5.5 for this late in the season. Ricardinho is harder to value, but I'll venture a guess of 7.0 M valuation based on his Brazialian World Cup pedigree.

Full list of draft pool awaiting valuation:

Team To Name Position Fantasy Valuation

Blackburn Rovers Jonathan Stead Striker
Blackburn Rovers Martin Andresen Midfielder
Bolton Dwight Pezzarossi Striker
Bolton Donovan Rickets GK
Fulham Collins John Striker
Leicester City Lee Morris Striker
Leicester City Peter Canero Defender
Manchester City Daniel van Buyten Defender
Manchester United Lee Martin Midfielder
Manchester United Dong Fangzhuo Striker
Middlesbrough Ricardinho Midfielder
Portsmouth Richard Duffy Defender
Portsmouth Sebastian Olszar Striker
Southampton Stephen Crainey Defender

Of these, Fangzhuo has been loaned to a Belgium team and Lee Martin is only a 16 yr old who is not likely to break into the first team. Collins John is a youngster as are Rickets, Canero and Crainey and they are also not likely to replace current players on our squads. I'll defer to our knowledgeable European soccerfiles like Ara and Jonathan to add their perspectives. But, by my calculations, this is the set of players likely to be drafted that await valuation:

Team To Name Position Fantasy Valuation

Blackburn Rovers Jonathan Stead Striker
Blackburn Rovers Martin Andresen Midfielder
Bolton Dwight Pezzarossi Striker
Leicester City Lee Morris Striker
Manchester City Daniel van Buyten Defender
Middlesbrough Ricardinho Midfielder
Portsmouth Richard Duffy Defender
Portsmouth Sebastian Olszar Striker

If anyone wants to suggest an estimated valuation on any of these players or concur with my suggested 5.5 M for Morris and 7.0 M for Ricardinho, we are listening.
