I wonder if Clint Mathis and Abel Xavier will have conversations reagarding on how the US beat Portugal 3-2 at the 2002 World Cup.....too bad neither of them saw playing time on that particular Match.

Hi! I'm from Hanover and would really appreciate to hear some opinions on Xavier, and it looks like you're the guys to ask.

I remember him - from Portugal games - as a very engaged player, who tries to attack at every possibility, but sometimes gets too mingled up (hope this makes sense). But what we actually need is someone who can stabilize our central defense. Do you think he's the right guy for that job? And what might have gone wrong at Galatasaray?

Of course we're not Liverpool but only a midtable Bundesliga team, trying to stay in the league. But we're "Reds" as well. ;-) (Playing in red and being nicknamed, in german of course, "Die Roten".)

I don't know what is worse, his defensive abilities or his wardrobe/hair... It's a toss up really.

Vladimir But, who played for Russia but hasn't seen any action in a while. Stanko Svitlica, who plays or wants to play for Serbia-Montenegro. (Actually, this is a little confusing since he's from Bosnia, if i got that right. But he seems to be a serb, personally knowing Krupnikovic and coming because Krupi recommended Hanover.) Svitlica played with Legia Warsaw in Poland so far and scored 22 (or 27?) goals last season, we don't know much about him but it sure sounds good.

And Jaime is back from Spain, returning on loan from La Coruna. He's not a national, though.

Krimson, about Xavier- Well, he's good for about 7 minutes, but I wouldn't expect him to do any shoring up of defense. As I sort of referenced, he scored something like seven minutes into his first game with Liverpool, and had every chance to win a consistent starting position, as Liverpool was certainly looking for some stability in the back at the time of his arrival, but he eventually hoofed himself out of consideration. Possibly due to his previous club, but assuredly at least somewhat related to his underwhelming play, he was not a popular player, by any estimation.

You could try getting them to argue amongst themselves and then run away.

It worked for Sir Robin.

I'm a big fan of Cletus, but...

Lanky, you need to change your avatar. Everytime I read your posts, I feel like I am getting oogled by an a-- thirsty felon in a cold german prison.

Creepy.

BTW, I read somewhere on BS about someone commenting on Clint's vision of the field in attack. I saw the highlight of his debut goal finally, and I couldn't agree more. He made a very direct run to a good spot, and he got the ball in stride and finished. Very Clint. But change that avatar, he won't stop staring at me.
