&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Does anyone here (besides me) remember this commercial (http://www.uiowa.edu/~commstud/adclass/1984.apple_ad.mov) (shown in the link in QuickTime format) that aired during halftime of Super Bowl XVIII in January 1984? It was directed by Ridley Scott and cost a then-record $900,000 to make, and was shown only once on television until just a few years ago.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Most acknowledge it as the first "Super Bowl commercial", and was the commercial that ushered in the era of "Super Bowl commercials" - not just plain commercials shown during the Super Bowl as was done before then, but big "event" commercials made especially for the Super Bowl (or at least to be seen first during the Super Bowl).

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Recently, a "20th Anniversary" edition of that commercial hit the internet (found here (http://www.apple.com/hardware/ads/1984/), also in QuickTime), which is the same commercial with one recent addition.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp So as you enjoy the entertaining and expensive Super Bowl commercials this year (which, if history is any indication, will likely be more entertaining than the game itself), don't forget the one that started it all.

There was a 'Superbowl ad' sent to me 3 Years Ago by e-mail of an Alien comming back to his Planet after a visit to Earth. His Master asked him, "What have u learned about the Language?" and his response was, "Wassup?" (the thing to say back then).

Take my word for it, you're not the only one who remembers it. It's the "1984" Apple Mac commercial. They've been talking about it all week on TV during news segments in relation to famous Super Bowl commercials.

As someone who's been involved with the media and PR firms, I've seen the damn thing so many times I'm fed up with it.

in my opinion, there were only two that were even halfway decent - the budweiser com with the ref getting yelled at and the fedex com with the alien at work. i haven't seen anyone comment on the fedex commercial and it may have been the best one. aol and pepsi spots were pathetic as expected.

I agree. They were the only two that really made me chuckle at all, and I am known to be easily amused.

Think the new Ford GT kicks @ss though.
