Phil I’m sorry but I’m a very big fan of Guti his game is all about technique really thus playmaking. He’s a genius every now and then.

I agree, and at times he's unstoppable but Iniesta's game is also about technique and he does it more consistently.

It is neither Guti nor Iniesta so your argument is moot. It is also a private poll which makes that equally worthless.

I picked Ronaldinho, but both Totti and Ibrahimovic make very good cases.

It would be worthwhile to discuss and agree upon a definition of 'technically gifted' before people start whining about players.

A player who, if he gained 25 pounds, would still be almost as dangerous because his technique is so good.

Just an idea.

And no one said they were. In regards to the list, I was pointing out Iniesta deserves a mention over Guti.

Simplistic but I quite like it.

There is no point in arguing over a loser.

Like discussing nominees for best player/striker/etc it is relevant.

I'm torn between Ibrahimovic and Messi. There really isn't a remotely satisfying way of deciding who has the most (realized?) talent in the area of technique.

If this is the case then Ronaldinho or Riquelme- they've proved it!

It's all well and good naming some of the best players in the world and calling them the most technically gifted. Surely though, players of a lower class can be more technically gifted.

Despite being the best in the world, I don't think Messi has a better first touch, a better pass and a cleaner strike than many players much worse than him.

Quaresma just about does it for me. Not a great player, but a player with great (the best) technique.

Cesc plays the game so slowly that 25 pounds probably wouldn't affect his output that much.

This should have been said earlier, but shouldn't technical ability in defense also be included?

Players like Ferdinand, Nesta, Carvalho and the like are head and shoulders above others in technical defending and they have very good technical ability going the other way (passing, first touch). Lahm can attack just as well as most wingers and has flawless defensive technique, shouldn't he deserve a shout?

Very well said and all true, especially the part about Lahm ;)
