What a match so far (half-time now). I must say the esaseaon console is better this season, first time I've got to use the slideshow--it's like watching it live almost.

Liverpool have been brilliant intheir build up, unfortunately their finishing is reminiscent of the US vs Denmark recently :( Should be 5-2 by now!

Dudek has been great in goal so far, a couple real cracking saves.

The second may get a bit tighter after the wide open first half. I hope we don't rue all those missed chances (Gerrard twice, Le Tallec, et al)

Wide open in the second as well. Unfortunately MArtyn had some great saves, and at other times the lads couldn't finish a pork pie, let alone a chance... A great match though--but we needed all three points. I'm going back to bed.

Game end from Liverpool.tv

170th derby ends in stalemate
An enthralling derby played at a frenetic pace with both sides having great chances and both goalkeepers making great saves has somehow ended goalless at Anfield this afternoon.

Go to get out of this drawing to lessor clubs at home.

the game was absolutely incredible, except for the fact that we couldnt stick the ball in the net. but other than that, we outplayed everton all over the place, final possession was 67%-Liverpool and 37%- Everton. and i would definitely have to vote Gerrard as man of the match, he was definitely on top of his game today, and created chances for himself and the rest of the team

You couldn't ask for a better game. The only thing we were missing was a bit of luck. There were some poorly taken chances, but over all I wouldn't even blame our finishing, it was just bad luck. Jamie C. played out of his skin, and Gerrard had the best game I've seen out him in awhile. Hamann was getting beat up left, right and center, but kept as cool as always.

Can we talk about the three penalty appeals?? Ferguson blatantly wrestled Hyypia down to the ground during a corner, in what appeared to be a make-up no call for a Hyypia indiscretion at the other end (I thought the replay show Radzinski falling down rather easily). After that we had two obvious handballs in the box, and how the ref missed that second one is just beyond me.

For once, I walked out of the pub feeling very very good about a game that we really should have won.

Just back from the local. Stevie played very well and should have scored at least one. His second chance was well taken but greatly saved by Martyn. Unlike some others I don't think TLT started slowly and got better, I think he was remarkable all game. Great touch, vision, and work rate. Had a clear goal saved by Hibbert's head at the post.A great full game debut.

Owen was miserable --- consistently poor first touch and inability to beat some clearly poor defenders. I don't know where the skill went but he seems a step slow. I hope that's not permanent.

Kewell ran around a lot and worked fairly hard but he was where our attack went to die. Absolutely unable to use his right foot and too easily dispossessed, he simply was a net negative.

Whatever Cheyrou had in other matches was missing today --- he did little when given chances and he disappeared for long periods. H-H both handled everything that needed handling and played well.

Special notice for Jamie -- except for one early moment --- you would never have known that young Master Shrek was on the pitch as Carra put him in his back pocket. Furthermore, when Shrek went off Jamie got forward on two really strong runs ( I know its shocking) and should have been rewarded with a goal if Martyn hadn't made a remarkable save.

DiDi was himself and almost scored a wonder goal with a left footed half volley that forced another great save from Martyn. Jerzy made three great saves as well. I guess you could say we did everything but score and win.

Finally, a word on the officiating. Before I get to the shouts for PKs, Everton was called for only half the fouls committed and when called were not given cards that were well deserved. Ferguson never got a card but was consistently called for fouls on any contested ball. Graveson already had a yellow when he deliberatey stepped on TLT after a ball was far away and TLT was on the ground. Could and should have been his second booking with about 15 minutes to go.

Now for the non-PKs. Ferguson took down Hyppia in the box with a tackle that would have done credit to any defender in tomorrow's Super Bowl. No call. There was another shout for a hand ball that was arguable but the final insult was a cross in the box which Graveson reached out and played with his trailing arm and under no pressure. The centre was at best ten yards away. Now as one of the lads at the local said "you can take it to the bank, that's a penalty call if it happens at the Stetford End" yet we get nothing in front of the Kop.

So in the end, I'd say unlucky and let's have the lads work on shooting better come Monday at Melwood.

Thanks you guys, I'm in work and had to rely on the computer.

I'm sure it's posted somewhere but is this match being played by FSWd this week?

Again, what's the difference between Wayne Rooney and Danny Cadamarteri?

Danny Cadamarteri has scored in a Derby.

We did everything but score last night, and when you fail to put the ball in the back of the net, you will never win games. We should have beaten Everton at home... 2 points thrown away in my opinion.

After a hard fought 0:0 draw:
'The best side drew.'
One of Billy Shanks quotes. And this one...
'A lot of football success is in the mind.
You must believe you are the best and then make sure that you are.
In my time at Anfield we always said we had the best two teams on Merseyside,
Liverpool and Liverpool reserves.'

Cracking derby, that. Easily the best 0-0 I have seen in quite some time. How we failed to score is utterly beyond me. Martyn was unbelievable in the second half - when Carragher hit that late effort I was already shouting "********ing Carra's scored, no way!" when he got his foot to it. Unbelievable.

And another utterly preposterous performance from Steve Bennet. How he missed our penalty from Drunken Duncan and Carragher's handball is totally beyond me, the guy is a complete cretin.

Brilliant banner in the Kop - "Hungry Wayne? How's about 40,000 bitter Toffees?" :D

Actually, after watching the game again (I taped it) and remembering the super bowl. Some guy on the Panthers did to a Patriots receiver exactly what Ferguson did to Hyppia. Th eonly difference of course - the Panter was called for holding. First down Patriots. Ferguson got nothing.

funny how we're on the second page and yet noone's mentioned Hyypia's foul on Radzinski when he was the last man...

who's gonna be the first to criticise the ref for not sending Hyypia off?

(yeah, Ferguson's foul on Hyypia was a definite penalty...i can see both sides of the coin)

Moyes...without cracking a smile, unbelievably.

And actually, I did bring this up. Check the first page of this thread.
