Well, I can't say what we'll do. Injuries are kicking our butts right now.

YouTube - Podolski gibt Ballack eine Ohrfeige
I didn't watch the match and I'm only now just hearing about this.
Does anyone know the story? Is there a history between the two?
Or is this what we can expect from Podolski next season?

translation?
Something like
Ballack:
"What the hell are you doing? You have to defend better, run more,..."
Poldi:
"Run yourself, asshole!"

We've got loads of injured players and players who are in dire need of a rest. Petit is one of them, but he has to play anyway. IMO it was a waste of money to sign Boateng if he's not considered an alternative at all.

So Boateng is useless or just not up to speed?
What will the lineup be tomorrow?

Kicker reckons we'll play like this:
Mondragon - McKenna, Geromel, Mohamad, Brecko - Petit, Vucicevic, Pezzoni - Radu, Ehret - Novakovic
I don't know if Boateng is regarded as useless in general, but it seems that he isn't even considered at the moment although Petit has injury problems. If I remember correctly, we paid quite a few bucks to get this player earlier than summer.

That's not too bad. Glad we have much more depth now.

I've just read through some posts on the fc message board. Boateng is indeed not yet up to speed it seems. Apparently he was not really match fit when he arrived from Israel, and that's still a problem. Maybe I was too harsh on him in my earlier post.

Don't know how well you are schooled in German geography, but today's game is a derby. It's not quite as important as our rivalry with Gladbach, but most Cologne fans don't like Bayer (and vice versa). The club is regarded as "plastic" and lacking in tradition etc. Jealousy might also play a role, though. Leverkusen has been very successful over the last ten, fifteen years or so.

I think geography is how I got into soccer.
Leverkusen is next door, a suburb of Cologne right?

Maybe not a suburb in the strict sense of the word, but yes, it's definitely next door. It's also called "schäl sick" in local dialect: the "wrong side" of the Rhine.

Back when I began following Cologne in the late-70s Fortuna Düsseldorf was regarded as a big rival, which was heightened when they met a couple of times in the Pokal finale.
