Sometimes you take a risk and it pays off. Sounds like an interesting candidate.

I have to agree. It would be a risk, but even the greatest managers have to start somewhere and also Soldo might be able to bring in talented Croation players, who knows. But I wouldn't mind signing Slomka, either. Given the context in which we have to act, the options could be much worse.

I think either Slomka or Soldo would be a pretty good choice too.

I also believe either one will be better choices than HSV and Leverkusen made.

HSV should have just saved their money and f#ckin' re-hired Thomas Doll.

They just BOUGHT a coach who is pretty much a Doll clone.

Reports here say you guys are interested in 20-year old KSC outside defender Stefano Celozzi.

I think that would be a freakin' FANTASTIC signing for you guys. This kid was with Bayern before going to KSC and I think has the potential to play internationally for Germany or Italy in the future.

If it is true, good luck there!!!!

We want him as well but I don't think we have the money. :(

If BVB wasn't already "overloaded" at the outside defense positions, I'd be screaming for them to go after this kid.

This can't be more than a rumour, but I'll spread it anyway: Bild says we're interested in Gerard Houllier. :D

Actually, according to this Kicker article (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/509990/), the rumor is true and Houllier turned them down after initial talks.

I was going to write that this wouldn't surprise me from Meier, but decided to check into it first......

Never trust a Frenchman to run a German club.

Well, for me, Houllier's nationality has nothing to do with it. I just don't think Houllier would be happy being "just coach."

He probably wanted the coach's job and autonomy over transfers. I think we all know Meier won't give him that.

I was just being funny without the :D

Its probably as you say, he wants power, and Meier wants power. When does Klinsman get his name into the picture?

Never.

Klinsmann is either going to live another year off Bayern's money or take over for Heynckes at Leverkusen when Heynckes falls flat on his face just as he did at Schalke and Gladbach.

Overath Denies Any Contact With Houllier

Story here (http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/news/28371/overath-dementiert-verhandlungen-mit-houllier.html)

I think it's much simpler: If there were any negotiations with Houllier at all, why would a man with his CV join a mediocre German club that has seen its last spell of success in the early ninetees?

Houllier??? seriously? who the hell comes up with those names?

Whose next? Trapatoni? Beckenbauer? Herberger? A shame Scolari just signed in Uzbekistan.

i wish they would just sign Soldo or Slomka already and finally get started.

What makes me a bit suspicious is that Slomka hasn`t signed here or anywhere else yet.

He was connected to nearly all the clubs that were looking for a new coach and has better credentials than some that were signed.

That could mean that either he wants a rather generous salary or that he has doesn`t have the best reputation inside the buisness.

Because no one else wants his sorry ass.

Anymore questions??

It seems that he could have gone to Hamburg, for example.

No way. Try again. HSV wanted a guy who would be satisfied with being "just coach" and by all accounts, they eyed Labbadia from the day Jol left.

Houllier will look for a situation close to the one he had at Liverpool. Where he was coach and had great influence over the club's transfer policy.

Most of all, any club he joins has to be willing to spend, spend, spend.

HSV isn't going to do any of that. Neither is 1. FC Koln.

But I don't believe that stopped Meier from talking to Houllier.

BTW, despite Overath's Houllier denial, "Kicker" is sticking with their story.

And the past few times that has happened, the club involved has been found to be the ones who lied.........
