I don't often get the chance to start a match thread. I tried dumbing it down for you colonials, hope it was enough......:D :D

Too far ahead for the team selection and I don't do predictions, I'll leave that to you clairvoyants.

(Needs a sticky)

Xabi is suspended.

IMO Yossi deserves another start, especially as Gerrard will still be out for this match.

Most definitely...let's also hope Torres survives the game vs England...

Alonso is out suspended. I think Lucas is available. Degen and Gerrard are unavailable through injury.

-----------------------Reina------------------------
----------Skrtel----Carragher----Agger-----------
Arbeloa-------------------------------------Aurelio
-----------Maschearno------Lucas-----------------
-----------Benayoun---------Babel----------------
------------------------Kuyt-------------------------

Subs - Cavalieri, Hyypia, Dossena, Spearing, El Zhar, Ngog, Torres.

Will be an open match again. I would be willing to start Torres, but it all depends on what happens at the international friendly.

Reina
Arbs Carra Agger Aurelio
Lucas Masch
Kuyt Yossi Riera
Torres

Subs: Cavalieri, Skrtel, Dossena, Plessis, El Zhar, Babel, Ngog

A few questions now come up...

Will we see the 3-4-2-1 again?
Skrtel or Agger?
Aurelio in CM with Dossena at LB or Lucas starting in CM.

Didn't anyone like the way Aurelio played in the Middle of the park?....I would give him the nod over Lucas any day, but i guess Rafa will still support Lucas and give him the nod.

I think its more the XI that we think we will see.

Preferrably id love to see this XI if they are all fit. The team has a good balance with 6 right-footed and 4 left-footed outfield players.

Reina
Arbs Carra Agger Dossena
Masch Aurelio
Kuyt Yossi Riera
Torres

Liverpool FC vs Manchester City BPL 22 Feb 2009.

I'm getting the KO at 1600hrs (4PM) British Standard time. Greenwich mean time or Zulu time.

That's 8:00 am in the morning here on the left coast, PST.

PM me if you need to ask so you won't be embarrassed..

It is excitement. I want us to build a nice goal difference though and none of these close late games help that, lol.

How many come from behind victories is that so far this season?

well - since we know Benitez LOVES Lucas (and might not, in his own mind, have another choice since Alonso is suspended):

Reina
Arbs--Carra--Skrt--Aurelio
Benny-Masch-Lucas--Riera
Kuyt--Torres

Subs: Cavalieri, Babel, Dossena, El Zhar, Agger, Spearing.

EDIT - Here are the guys playing in/selected for the Friendlies coming up - Agger, Skrtel, Doss, Riera, Arbs, Torres, Reina, Alonso, Kuyt, Babel, El Zhar, Yossi, Masch, Hyppia

Good news is that all the internationals are over by this Wednesday (11th)- so it gives players some time to rest afterwards. As an added bnus for us - we have an extra day to rest with our game being pushed to Sunday (22nd). This could help with Gerrard too - though even if fit he probably shouldn't start - maybe play for 30 minutes as a sub (hope we don't need it) and then get back in full for Real Madrid.

it kills me to say this, but i actually like this assemblage of players. i don't think they would slot in precisely this way, but the lebben you picked is a good set.

the question i have is where Aurelio would fit in? i think there would be a risk of Dossena and Aurelio stumbling over one another unless the latter really stuck to the middle third of the pitch.

i could see having three players -- Dossena, Aurelio, and Riera -- slightly overloading the left side creating some space for Torres, if the centreback on that side were drawn out. Hughes might caution the former Ardwick FC to sit back and make the Reds take the play to them.

Atleast we will not have to worry about little SWP seeing that he has been handed down a 3 game suspension
