Bergin is reporting Gibbs is returning to the states.
If we don't end up with Gibbs, after everything
that we've been through, from being the only
team in '96 to have their franchise player sold
out from under them, to having the ASSRAPE
to legitimize Adunited, then I will QUIT MLS.
The *#*#*#*#*#ers in Columubus think "they're the
most massive team in existence." Anglo
versions of Bayardo. *#*#*#*#*# THEM.
Gibbs is ours Gawddammnt.
We were robbed of Marshall, and if the
team who had Marshall handed to them
gets Gibbs as well, especially since that
team is a fellow HSG team, then there will
be HELL to pay.
Gibbs in Dallas wrights so many wrongs
I can't even begin to rank or list them.
Ivan, GE, this is your chance to be heroes.
Fail us, or screw us, and you will Perish.

I'm not one to take Bergin on his word, but since he is the reason for your post, I will. He is now reporting that Gibbs is indeed coming here. He is awaiting confirmation from the Burn right now.

What's the matter, bluedaddy? Upset that your best personal friend Cory Gibbs didn't call you before this happened?

Im definitely with u on this one Sandman. I think it would be total bullshyt if the Crew (Chad Marshall) or the Metros (Eddie Pope) got Gibbs. Dallas must get Gibbs.
One of the things that Ive always enjoyed about MLS is the parody from the usual "equal-level" teams. Dallas had and still has a pretty atrocious team when u compare to the others. However if Gibbs ends up in Dallas where he should be...the Burn should be able to turn things around to the point where they could at least compete for one of the last playoff spots.
MLS is definitely scarce on centerbacks. Gibbs would easily be the 2nd best in the league if he joined. This would be an obvious major influence on Dallas turning things around. Heres hopin you guys dont get the shaft....good luck.

ummm... no didn't know the link - for the 100th time, tree and i only repeated what the guy told us 6 months ago- never said he was a friend, never said he would never play for dallas - so let me ask you a question... if a player in discussion tells you something are you gonna post it or are you gonna keep it to yourself because a bunch of internet crybabies might make fun of you?
firmly back on topic: maybe there's just a slight chance that it's possible that the guy isn't taking the deal he really wanted

I'd just like to say I'm amused by the idea of MLS buying players contracts, whether they want to come to MLS or not.

The "you suck" allocation was created precisely for this kind of situation. And the Burn's YS allocation is higher up than the Crew's (by finishing lower). So, by virtue of us having the highest standing YS allocation, how in the world are we not going to get Gibbs. In my opinion, there is no way in high hell we don't get Gibbs.

I just don't see it happening this time. For the first time EVER we have a YS allocation. The top one in the league. Surely, surely, it will work to our advantage. Surely. Right? Right?

Probably not. Who wouldn't take an offer to play in the Bundesliga1 if it's out there? Another thing that must be considered is that this could be a negotiating ploy to get said Bundesliga spot, ie he could be trying to motivate a German team to act by making himself look "in demand." You never know what agents get up to these days.
Unlike many people, I tend to trust Bergin most of the time, but I'm not going to get too excited about this until I see something final. It sure would be great though.

connelly says it's already a go. hopefully his secret buddy doesn't go by the call name "ussocceruk." nothing against bergin, just hoping there's more than one source that's confirming this.

Actually, the "most massive club" stuff is mostly schtick and an inside gag.

This is an excellent, excellent pick up for the Burn.
Gibbs is solid in the middle, and has plenty of bundesliga experience. This will make our red and black a much stronger team.

Dallas deserves Gibbs, and then some for bending over backwards to the MLS on letting Adu go to DC. But in Gibbs, you guys are getting someone who is going to have a major impact in the MLS. Watch him be the starting LB for USMNT for years.

Wow! I am impressed. Welcome to the dark side Luke. We will teach you the "Doom and Gloom" song we sing to a Druid beat and our secret one finger handshake at the next meeting.
To me, this is what a real fan is supposed to sound like given our current plight.

The dark side, the bright side, gray matter... meeting and staying in the middle is impossible. You don't have to wear a bag on your head to be an extremist. But it is allowed, and sometimes makes a difference.
