I'm not a huge fan of Inter but i'm glad they won it for Brasil and made it 2 in a row vs European teams

Abel Braga said for the past 3-4 days that they were going to mark Barcelona very tough and that is what they did.

It didn't really surprised me that Iarley played well, considering he already had experience playing this game..

Saying is one thing, doing it is another. They did something I didn't think they could have. They gave up the midfield. But they closed the last third of the field, specially the wings very well. Shows that Abel did his homework. But the game could have really gone either way. Until the goal, I still would have put my money on Barcelona scoring first.

The sad thing (and telling) for me is seeing our Brazilian teams having to play a defensive/counter attacking style 2 years in a row now.

Well Inter really wanted the trophy and that's the only way to shut down Barca. Barca wanted it badly too but guess was just not good enough.

Congratulations, Inter for sticking up for South American football. I am watching the match right now, but at half time I couldn't help myself and had to take a look at the final score. Now I wish I hadn't.

I have a question, how does Inter usually play in this year's Brasilerao? Are they primarily a defensive team that counterattacks, as they played against Barca, (at least based on the 59 minutes I've watched so far), or did they adapt their strategy specifically for this match, to maximize their chances of winning?

From what I remember watching in Libertadores, I thought they usually don't speculate as much. So, if they adjusted their strategy specifically for Barca, that was very clever tactically. Even before I peeked at the final score, I felt that playing this way they were maximizing their chance of winning. I thought the Mexican team was foolish, trying to outplay Barca, and so they got killed.

Anyway, great job by the Colorados. It's good to see that in spite of the exodus of players the South American teams can still beat the Euros.

I'm at 66 minutes so I guess the goal should be coming up soon.

Congrats on Inter for the win yesterday. Now everybody knows South America literally owns Europe!!:D I need to re-watch Pedro Iarley's amazing ball control. A guy who never played for his national team obviously had better skill than the big guns from Barcelona :) Oh, and I am also optimistic about the future of young Adriano and Alexandre as well. :)

Let me just say I think Inter deserved to win the title. They way they defended was impressive. But Barcelona also deserved to win it. Inter won the tactical battle while Barca won the posession battle and had a few more chances on goal.

Iarley and Ceara were the MOTM.

Inter always had a very strong defensive line, but in Brasileirao they played very much focused on offensive, at home or as visitors. And the why they played against Barcelona was tactical, specifically prepared for this game. Fernandao was behind in the midfield (in libertadores or Brasileirao he plays a lot more as forward closer to the area, and we play with 2 defenders not 3 with a 4th guy running back like we did. The coach had months to observe Barcelona and he did prepared a masterpiece of a plan. And did a textbook kill on those overpaid suckers.
