He just gets old!!!! His time is over.

But don't worry: A new star is born in this board!

I find Jeremy Summers to be what every Hoffenheim fan dreams about, funny, sarcastic, yet a bit knowledgeable. Its not often a new poster comes around the Hoffenheim thread and has the complete package. No ugly baggage weighing him down, he's fresh, he's got potential. He's Hoffenheim.

Rangnick's 'secret' of success with this talented, yet still very raw Hoffenheim side have not been the tactics primarily (4-3-3 or 4-4-2, there is nothing 'sophisticated' or new about the tactical side of things), but the understanding of the importance of athleticism in the modern game, which is the basis of Hoffenheim's aggressive pressing game, and 'explosive' attacking game, often overwhelming their opponents.

Ironically, this traditional strenght of German football seems to have been lost in recent years, while in other countries, England in particular, they put a much stronger emphasis on it these days (one could argue that the EPL is primarily so successful these days because they are superior athletes, compared to other, less athletic leagues like Italy or Spain in particular).

The downside of this is that you can't play this non stop high pace attacking game with thirty-somethings, you need young, hungry players who on the other hand are more error prone also. But, if the consequence of Rangnick's success is that other Bundesliga clubs start to understand the importance of athleticism, and put a higher emphasis not just on fitness, but physical 'presence' and aggressiveness, it will help the league a lot, particularly in Europe. It's a welcome 'inspiration', knowing that Bundesliga clubs are often too lightweight, especially in the middle of the park.

Wonderful analysis inbetween many stupid posts !

I wonder how the boys would do in the EPL. Sometimes they remind me of Arsenal. On the other hand I wish there would be an intelligent, older player like Riquelme between all the youngsters...to give them time to breathe, to organize better.

hackespitze,

next week Werder against Hoffenheim ! Sin dudas, Hoffenheim will lose against Werder. ( It would fit if the games ends with a draw. ) But our defensa is horrible and if we continue to play with the (useless) San*go, instead of the wonderful Obasi we will drop points. I hope the weather temperatures are rising, the boys are not made for cold days. :D

We really need to start winning again, and Hoffenheim is not exactly the easiest of opponents for this, to put it mildly. You may have defensive problems (so do we (fullback positions, especially the right side), but you more than make up for it with your unbelievable atheticism and stamina. Playing against Hoffenheim is like playing against 11 duracell bunnies on speed - it is always a challenge!

Could be another cracker like the first match earlier this season (best match of the season IMHO), hopefully it will, but you never know. Both teams need to win, so both teams will go for it, and since both teams have attacking football in their DNA, it should be a very open match at least, with a lot of chances.

I predict a goal from Sanogo. That would totally fit. :(

I agree. We will see another cracking match. If I look back, it was the best match of the season, and it was very lucky for Bremen to win.

But now we are not as good as then. We have faced two sides like Dortmund and Stuttgart AWAY, so a win at home would give the boys so much ! My feeling says away win for Bremen. We will see. ;)

Lol. Our team is shrinking ! Salihovic will be out for one month !

So out for Bremen are Weis, Salihovic, Gustavo and Teber. The midfield became an orphan - I guess we will play with San*go and Obasi on the right wing. I think they will call some from the second team to somehow fill the squad.

His representative Alexandre Gontran told Foot Mercato: “Stuttgart first contacted me in January. I think that they have also contacted the club.
“But other clubs are keen on him, including Liverpool, who have confirmed their interest in Ba regarding next season, and Blackburn as well.
“Demba feels good at Hoffenheim and if the team keep on playing well and manage to qualify for a European cup, I don’t see any reason why he would go.
“If the opposite situation occurs, keeping their players will be very difficult for Hoffenheim. We have been speaking about a contract extension since November.”

The DFB issued suspensions from this past weekend's red cards in the Bundesliga.

Werder Bremen's Naldo got three matches for his "last man/notbremse" red card against Bayern in their Sunday 0-0 draw.

Hoffenheim's Tobias Weis got one match for his sending off for kicking out against BVB's Sebastian Kehl in their Saturday 0-0 draw.

Weis' punishment is as close as you will get to the DFB admitting the referee made a mistake.

The current article does not mention if Bremen or Hoffenheim will appeal the suspensions.

Also, the article does not mention the action to be taken against Dortmund's Marcel Schmelzer for standing on Weis during that same play.

The DFB announced yesterday that action will be taken. I believe Schmelzer should get three matches myself, but I expect something to come down today or tomorrow.

Fandel didn't see it during the match or Schmelzer would and should have indeed seen red.

I don't know how, but Marcel Schmelzer got off the hook for stepping on Hoffenheim's Tobias Weis during this past Saturday's match.

The DFB said that based on Weis' statement, they couldn't determine intent.

How they could not, I don't know. I'm a BVB fan and I think Schmelzer did that shit intentionally.

I'll take this, but in my opinion, this is a big let off for Schmelzer. I thought he should have gotten three matches.

I'm not saying this for Hoffenheim fans' benefit either. Take a look at the match thread in the BVB sub-forum and you'll find the same message.

You know, when Bayern plays under the week, we also play under the week. Like Schindelmeiser promised after becoming 'Herbstmeister', :D

So we won against Stuttgarter Kickers 2-0 ! Wellington MOTM, :) 1 goal and one asists.

Our brazilian Fabricio played full 90 minutes, I hope he could shine out. Our italian Fabricio (Maselli) looks like 29 but is supposed to be from 1986.

Özcan – Janker (63. Prokop), Nilsson, Compper (46. Neupert), Fabricio – Marselli (46. Ibertsberger), Vorsah (45. Sanogo), Beck (46. Luiz Gustavo), Groß (46. Hertling), Terrazzino (63. Beil) – Wellington (63. Loviso).

Hildebrand is also out for the match against Bremen ! http://mainzelsmile.ioff.de/geschockt/icon_ohnmacht.gif

Can't wait for the tactic. No doubt, that Hoffenheim will present the youngest team and the youngest bench...

We have also some injury problems.

Vander, Frings, Fritz, Özil are out because of injury and Naldo because of the red card in the Bayern match. Wiese should be fit for the match.

I was just about to post about Werder's injuries too. But, sin dudas. I see no chance for 1899 !

The doping saga,

Germany's football federation on Friday dropped proceedings against two Hoffenheim players who turned up late for a post-match doping test, but said it would bring a case against the club and its anti-doping officer.

The DFB said it would bring a case against Hoffenheim and Geigle before a federation tribunal.
If Hoffenheim is found to have flouted anti-doping guidelines, it could face a fine of up to €150,000 ($189,000) — and, if the case is determined to be particularly serious, could have points deducted in the league, the federation said.
The DFB said that if further evidence does emerge against the players during a hearing of the case, it would reopen the investigation against them.

I am sure, this will not be the last word. Muah, now we stuck on Ibertsberger, I hoped for Fabricio ! :D
