Will ESPN or ESPN2 be airing the United States WCQ match against El Salvador on March 28th... ESPN's media zone says it will, but ussoccer.com has no confirmation of that-

Probably, but details are still likely being worked out.

I do remember the only qualifying match home or away for the US that wasn't on ESPN or FSC last go round was the away El Salvador match in the semifinal round in 2004. That was on PPV. The commentating made me wish for the days of Jack and Ty...

I doubt that will be the case again, but we'll see.

I don't remember FSC having any of the United States's WCQs. Did they?

They had one or two, I know they had the semifinal home match against El Salvador in 2004. I think they had maybe one more that round, they didn't have many I doubt will have any this year.

ESPN2 will get all the U.S. qualifiers.

Wouldn't be surprised if all home matches are in HD.

The 3-28 game has been listed on ESPN's advance schedule as being on the mothership and not ESPN2 for several months.

USsoccer.com's TV Schedule lists match as being on ESPN2 at 9. Being during Woman's NCAA basketball tourney, which ESPN has, no way does it go to the flagship channel. Let's just hope now that there is no basketball game on ESPN2 that runs over into the soccer match. If that happens, Telefutura also has the match.

The game will be televised LIVE on ESPN2 at 9:00 pm ET.

ESPN2 has the following scheduled before it -

5:30 pm ET to 8:00 pm ET - LIVE - NCAA Division I Ice Hockey -
Northeast Regional Semifinal #2 - Manchester, NH.

8:00 pm ET to 9:00 pm ET - Tape Delay - O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals
Qualiflying (Drag Racing) - Baytown, Tx.

Unless the hockey game goes past two overtimes, the US-El Salvador
match should be televised on time at 9:00 pm ET. If the hockey goes
past 8:00 pm ET and ends before 9:00 pm ET - I would assume ESPN2
will edit the drag racing so it ends before 9:00 pm ET. If the hockey
goes past 9:00 pm ET - ESPN2 will stick with the hockey until its conclusion
and have the soccer coverage start on ESPN Classic. Or better yet, delay
the soccer coverage and start it from the beginning when the hockey ends
on ESPN2. Then us soccer fans won't miss any of the match. Of course if
that happens - hope the hockey ends before 9:30 pm ET - otherwise the
soccer will be edited some as theres a LIVE Womens Basketball Tourney
game scheduled for ESPN2 at 11:30 pm ET. No way thats being joined in
progress or move to another channel etc. (If you have to set whatever
machine ahead of time - do it manually and go to at least 11:30-11:45
pm ET - just incase the above happens.)

So lets hope the hockey game ends in regulation and ends before 8:00 pm ET
so the drag racing starts on time (8:00 pm ET) and ends on time (9:00 pm ET)
thus the United States-El Salvador game start on time at 9:00 pm ET.

And, IIRC, that was because of some shenanigans El Salvador played with the foreign rights so that it pretty much made it impossible for it to be broadcast any other way.

ARGH! Who remembers the 4 OT hockey playoff game of a few years ago! NO! If it runs over, don't forget the match is on Telefutura or Telemundo...one of those. Can resort to how we had to watch US matches 20 years ago, in Spanish.

Why would you think that? No one cares about women's basketball.

Why is my DirecTV guide showing drag racing followed by strongest man in that timeslot?

(Incidentally, it's not showing it on any other ESPN channel, as ESPN has WCB and ESPN Classic has the ND-Bemidji State hockey game.)

As advertised/expected, it's on ESPN2 right now.

I know this is after the fact, but the on-screen guide did not update with the game until Friday or Saturday. I had already set a manual timer for it.

100% not true. A lot of women's basketball games get over 25,000 people. A lot of games are on national TV.

ESPN shows women's basketball because they have a legal contract with the NCAA to do so. This contract also puts college soccer on ESPN.
