Another Manchester United vs. The World thread? Who's the more competent fullback? Which one is more influential? Who's better offensively? Who's better defensively? Which one will have the better game in the CL clash between Manchester United and Inter?

I'd say Maicon but I'm sure that would just expose my 'lack of understanding about their respective games' or something;).
Seriously though, both brilliant fullbacks and it's a bit challenging to compare them simply because I'm used to only comparing fullbacks that play on the same side. I am actually going to go with Maicon but I think I could probably be persuaded to go with Evra such is the small margin between them. Maicon edges it due to the dreaded 'end product' argument where I feel he's probably ahead. That being said I think Evra's absence through injury/suspension has seriously stifled United's attacking fluidity, as solid as they've been at the back.

They have very different roles in their respective teams but if we are talking about who is more complete then Maicon would be my pick. I do not think there is much between their defensive game nor their attacking game but, as schafer has already identified Maicon has more end product. It is the one thing that is holding Evra back. Monaco must have been doing something right to have had both in their side. As for who will have the better game when they meet I would say Evra because I believe he will have more help on his flank than Maicon will get.

They're both rock-solid defenders and dangerous going forward, but Evra lacks that final ball. Setting aside the Dani Alves question for a moment, Lahm is the only lateral defender currently who can compete with Maicon in this regard.

Maicon pisses all over Evra. He's world class while Evra is just a poor man's Zhirkov as both can't defend that well really while attackingly Zhirkov still beats him every day of the week. Maicon is explosive attackingly like a pure winger and excellent defensively. Maicon wins this by a lot of miles. Fact.
Dare I say Maicon > The legendary Gary Neville.

amazing.
Anyway, onto the analysis.
As mentioned, Maicon's final ball and end product is without question, better than Evra's. However I think that doesn't necessarily mean he's the better attacker or better player. You may say "but end product is what its about?" Well, surely if you were comparing attacking players or perhaps players who had major goal/assist totals then of course. However I think when the numbers are lower, things like impact have to be taken into consideration.
For my money Maicon is the better attacker, but not by much. Although his crossing is better and his shooting is markedly better, he isn't that far ahead of Evra in terms of overall contribution.
Evra's dribbling is very good and the space he creates makes life easier for all of United's players. He's also put in several good shifts against top wingers and despite his size he's no pushover.
All in all, Maicon may just edge Evra, but I think Paddy is the better defender (just) whilst Maicon is the better attacker.

Trolling? Zhirkov being much better than Evra is a fact and it has nothing to do with trolling. Comparing the mighty Brazilian Maicon with Evra is an utter disgrace to the game.
