Interesting article by Big Ron about the Leeds situation, and for once I think he's right.

It's pathetic that these guys on £40-60,000 a week cant defer 30% till the end of the season. OK, they will, but only if the club has tried everything to raise money in other ways, eg. selling Smith.
If they sell Smith, they've had it.
If Leeds go down, they could go out of business, and no matter what rivalry I might feel towards LUFC as a Blades fan, no one deserves that.
The leeds fans would do anything possible to save the club. Shame the players who benefited from the clubs success can't do their share. And if they don't take the deferral, they will lose out financially anyway!

Firstly it's the club's fault.
If the players allow that sort of wage cut, they're special. For most players it's either you pay my wage or someone else will.
Most of them realize this is the last real job they can get so they want to stock up as much as they can now.
Also I'm sure plenty of players at Leeds don't get that high of a wage.

Really. It's not the players who put Leeds in this hole. The players would be doing a big favor to the club if they deferred, it's not as if it's their 'duty' to do so. The players signed a contract with the club on the terms they would get paid what they are to be paid when they are to be paid. You cannot fault the employees for managment's mistakes.

Footballers only have a short amount of time to make the wages that they do...

yes but they make like 20 grand a week.
think about that, that is over 1 million a year, and players have careers lasting 15 years thats 15 million...
they can live off the interest for the rest of thier lives :/
i can understand maybe the players on lower wages 5000 or less maybe worrying about thier money and security,
some players earn 40000 a week thats like 2.1 million per year. and over 30 million in basic wage alone, not mentioning sponsership deals, bonuses, etc
dont try to kid your selves that they NEED the money right now, the could defur payment to the end of the season :/

Not all players make a million per year...and certainly not all players play for 15 years.
The bottom line has already been posted...the club is in dire straights due to their own mistakes.

I agree. Leeds is in the situation that they are in because Peter Ridgdale thought if Leeds spent a ton of money, they would turn into Man U or Real Madrid. Leeds is a team with a strong local following and a realitively small international following. In my area, I've never met another Leeds fan, but plenty for Arsenal, Man U, etc. Teams need to understand the their financial structure and not try to spend like they sell 2 million jerseys a year. Leeds should be a team in the top of the second tier teams in the EPL and should have spent like that. It's not the fault of Viduka, Radebe or Smith that Leeds spent stupid money on Seth Johnson, Robbie Fowler, etc.

true that it is the clubs fault, however, its not the fans fault either and although they may be dirty pieces of crap, they are the ones that will ultimatly suffer, and to just say, oh its the clubs fault, full stop is a stupid comment to make. Like saying, a burgaler shouldnt steal, which of course is obvious, but that doesnt help the situation then does it, only dealing with him after will it be resolved, hense no point pointing the finger as it soves nothing.
