God this show is great.

Based on the 80s doc Heavy Metal Parking Lot, they do man-on-the-street interviews with people going to concerts and other events. So far they've done Motorhead, Cher, Yanni, 50 Cent, WWE (that's pro wrestling to those of you who are not males under 16), and a sci-fi convention -- all of which have very interesting fans.

Motorhead fans are exactly who you think they'd be. Cher had a mix of drag queens and evangelists. 50 Cent's crowd was the biggest group of wankstas I've ever seen (disclosure: I've never been to the Hot 97 Summer Jam, which I'm sure is a bigger gathering of wankstas.) But so far the Yanni people have been the best. I really felt for the woman who started to cry when she talked about shaking Yanni's hand at a book signing, but then the two Gen Xers who got free tickets through a car dealership slapped me back into reality.

I think they're showing this all week at 9. Highly recommended.

Yeah, these are good so far...and I'm thrilled Trio showed the original Heavy Metal Parking Lot as a primer. I've only seen badly duped copies before...there's few things funnier than beered up Preist fans from Glen Burnie, MD...

Here's something interesting for Britpop fans...During the Motorhead at Asbury Park segment, they talk to a guy with a British accent who speaks of being in a band at one time...It's Miles Hunt of The Wonder Stuff!

The Wonder Stuff were headbangers?

I love this show. I've always wondered who actually listens to Yanni. The sci-fi convention was pretty funny too. I plan on TiVoing every episode.

Very true...

A couple of years ago (to mark the 20th (?) anniversary of 'Heavy Metal Parking Lot'), a local theater here in DC ran a program featuring not only "Heavy Metal Parking Lot," but also "Neil Diamond Parking Lot," "Raver Bathroom," and "Harry Potter Sidewalk," among others. They were hilarious. If any of you ever get a chance to see any of those, you should.

Is that the guy that jumped in the ocean for $100?

The Parking Lot marathon was on tonight.

My Super Bowl party watched more of it than they did the actual game.

In time this show will be recognized for how prescient it actually is.
