God this show is great.
Based on the 80s doc Heavy Metal Parking Lot, they do man-on-the-street interviews with people going to concerts and other events. So far they've done Motorhead, Cher, Yanni, 50 Cent, WWE (that's pro wrestling to those of you who are not males under 16), and a sci-fi convention -- all of which have very interesting fans.
Motorhead fans are exactly who you think they'd be. Cher had a mix of drag queens and evangelists. 50 Cent's crowd was the biggest group of wankstas I've ever seen (disclosure: I've never been to the Hot 97 Summer Jam, which I'm sure is a bigger gathering of wankstas.) But so far the Yanni people have been the best. I really felt for the woman who started to cry when she talked about shaking Yanni's hand at a book signing, but then the two Gen Xers who got free tickets through a car dealership slapped me back into reality.
I think they're showing this all week at 9. Highly recommended.
