Don't know Emile's condition just yet and Milan is playing in the reserves on Wednesday so striker is up for some debate. FSP is still unavailable as I understand it; so:

-----------Jerzy
Finnan ---H-----H-----Carra
Cheyrou --Didi-SG-----Harry
--------TLT---Michael

Jones
Spuds
Riise
Heskey? Baros? FSP?
Biscan

Discuss.

The Guardian said Heskey will be out for up to three weeks, so he definitely won't be available for the derby.

I hope to see Cheyrou playing behind Owen as a supporting striker and Le Tallec on the right wing.

yea i would definitely agree with moving cheyrou up to a supporting striker and putting in le tallec to a right wing, le tallec played very well against newcastle the other day, i think he could work good for us against everton

Yeah im afraid all your stiking options there are all injured and ruled out of the game, Heskey - hamstring, Baros - Still out with his broken leg and Flo po - Groin Injury . Hopefully GH will stick to the side that finished against the toon, with le tallec starting . I think that side may be the may to go for the season.

Heskey is definitely out for up to three weeks:

So I think this is the lineup. TLT on for Kewell or Murphy as needed.

Definitely the way to go for the time being, IMO.

Yea, my nerves are starting up already. I've somehow talked the lady into coming out for this (the Newcastle match was her first, she claimed to love it...and somehow agreed to wake up for the 7 AM showing this Saturday).

As much as I love these matches, how nice would it be for us to attempt to build on last Saturday by playing in a game that would allow us to work on smooth, flowing football rather than a pinball game??

Lets hope both you and Liverpool score early and often.

I just figured I'd bump this up since no one seems to be interested in the Derby.

Update on player availability from Soccernet:

Emile Heskey will miss the Merseyside derby with hamstring problems and could be out for three weeks.

It means that Houllier could stick with the side that finished last weekend's FA Cup win over Newcastle, which included Anthony Le Tallec in a midfield role after Heskey's departure. Houllier's other option is to include the more combative Danny Murphy.

Third choice keeper Patrice Luzi is fit after a back injury and will take his place on the bench now that Paul Jones has been released from his loan spell to join Wolves.

Duncan Ferguson and Dave Unsworth are Everton's main doubts. Striker Ferguson is expected to shake off several minor knocks but Unsworth, who picked up a back injury against Fulham in the FA Cup, is Moyes' most serious problem.

With David Weir (knee ligaments) and Joseph Yobo (international duty) both out of the equation, Moyes is short of defensive cover and may call on England Under-21 centre-back Peter Clarke.

Li Tie is also unlikely to figure with an ankle injury, while Richard Wright is still recovering from knee surgery.

Preview here:

"A week or 10 days before the derbies, the nerves kick in. And it stays like that until the match has finished," Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard said.

"Actually, watching one is worse than playing because at least when you're on the pitch you get caught up in the game. Being a fan, all you think about for 90 minutes is that result. I stood on the Kop 10 or 15 times with my older brother and there's nothing like the atmosphere in a derby match - you can't beat it."

Too nervous to comment. I have learned you never make brash predictions before a derby match. It comes back to haunt you.

Once rode to Wembley for the FA Cup Final with my best mate and his mum (both bluenoses). All the way there I heard about how they were gonna stuff us.

On the way home they were a lot quieter.

One of my fave derby moments was Mick Lyons scoring an own goal at Anfield from 30 yards putting it over his own goalie's head. "Nice one Micky, nice one son!". Ended up 2 each and Terry Mac and Gary Stanley getting sent off. Thing was, neither one touched anyone.

OK We are low on strikers and they've got no defenders! I've got to think though that Michael would like to attack a make shift back line. On the other hand sometimes people step up when forced into difficult circumstances.

I'm praying that the win over the toon in the cup and a good showing against the blue can put us in a good period of play to try and secure the last CL spot.

I'm up and off to the local for the game!

"I'll tell you a story of a poor boy/ Who was sent far away from his home/ To fight for his king and his country/ And also the old folks back home

So they put him in the Highland division/ Sent him off to a far foreign land/ Where the flies swarm around in their thousands/ And there's nothing to see but the sand
Well the battle started next morning/ Under the Arabian sun I remember the poor Scouser Tommy/ Who was shot by an old Nazi gun
As he lay on the battle field dying (dying dying)
With the blood rushing out of his head (of his head)
As he lay on the battle field dying (dying dying)
These were the last words he said...

Oh...I am a Liverpudlian/ I come from the Spion Kop
I like to sing, I like to shout/ I go there quite a lot (every week)
We are the team who plays in red/ A team that we all know
A team that we call Liverpool/ And to glory we will go
We've won the League/ We've won the Cup
We've been to Europe too/ We played the Toffees for a laugh
And we left them feeling blue

Five Nil !/ One two/ One two three/ One two three four/ Five nil ! Rush scored one/ Rush scored two/ Rush scored three/ And Rush scored four!"

Right, brash predictions will haunt you when you have to go to work on Monday after crying in yer beer the day before.
Must be nearly half time now, time to take a deep breath and check in.

This from Liverpool/TV

Half-time: Liverpool 0 Everton 0
A breathless 170th Merseyside Derby somehow remains scoreless at half-time thanks to some magnificent goalkeeping at both ends.

Hope we're kicking into the Kop this next half.
