What other sort of trash talking/over exuberance will be displayed by Harlem (World) LLWS entry.

WHAT WHAT?

I wanna see 10 chest bumps, plenty of daps/props being shelled out and a multitude of BOOYAKKASHAS when every Harlem player goes deep.

I want Harlem to continuously keep jawing for ALL 6 innings.

Child abuse might not be such a bad thing.

These kids are making a case.

Dude, the kids weren't trying to show anyone up and more importantly, they apologized. Can we get over it?

Who saw the Texas team last night? They played like ********ing men. No-nonsense. Hard-working. Walked softly and carried a big stick. Their favorite music was ZZ Top and the theme from Rawhide.

I would settle for one loud "stuuuu-gatz" every time an opposing player struck out.

On a sad note, Harlem lost today to Worcester, Mass so they are out of the series. Oddly, I've spent a lot of time in Worcester and I grew up in New York City, and I can honeslty say I'd rather live in Harlem.

wanting to live there is all fine and dandy

but sad that they lost??? at all???

those kids should have been thrown at by the opposing pitchers, if their coaches, friends and relatives aren't going to teach them the code of ethics assoiciated with the game... it's up to the other team to do it

they are 12, they should know the game

Why not just say "I am a stuffy white guy and I hate watching those little ethnics running around and enjoying themselves playing a game". That would have been easier.

eric's right -- that what that whole thing was about. The losing coach's post-game press conference included statements like "I guess that's the way that they do things in the inner city." Gimme a ********ing break if you don't think that that really means "Those blacks and Hispanics are weird and scary to me".

I meant sad for them that they lost. I don't like to see 12 year olds pumping their chests and calling homerun shots, but if it was an all white team from Colorado they'd be "enthusiastic". Black kids from Harlem, different story.

Either way, as long as the US wins, I don't really care.

Bulls***. If it was white kids, nobody would have been making excuses, like some tried to do for the Harlem kids.

If y'all have followed my posts on the Politics threads, you know that I hate sounding like a conservative. But in this case, I think it's true. Some pundits (thankfully a minority) have been trying to excuse their boorish behavior, in a way that would never happen if they were the team from Wooster.

What the Woostah coach should have said so that everything would be easy to comprehend is:

"At least we beat those uppity players."

Guam and Hawaii are the last left. CMon Pacific peepz!

First of all, it's Worcester, not wooster. I will abstain from mimicking your "learn something about it, then come back and try to contribute" comment.

Second, explain why they were investigated for having kids out of district twice. If the first investigation didn't turn anything up, why investigate a second time? After the Danny Almonte situation last year, do you think minorities from inner cities get the same benefit of the doubt as other teams? A white coach loses and it's "I think their players aren't legal".

Third, the only reasons some pundits (and who exactly has the job of being the little league baseball player behavior pundit?) were defending it was because it was an issue. The boorish behavior wouldn't have been an issue in the first place if they were white. I don't excuse their behavior, nor do I think it was the right thing to do, but they were about 30% worse than half of the other teams in the past LLWS, none of whom were commented on. Additionally, look at the role models many of these kids have. Sammy "hit a homer and take 11 steps to the right" Sosa, Allen Iverson, Kobe, etc. They mimic what they see on TV. ESPN shows 10 minutes of chest pumping, high fiving, end zone dances for every 60 minutes of actual highlights. Their coach should have told them not to act that way, but you can't sit back in la-la land and pretend that these kids live in the same country you do. Hang out on a playground on 135th and 5th sometime. It's just not the same.

Right. None of us have anything better to do than learn how you like to have us think of you. Please return to the politics forum with all due haste.
