Opinions? Looks like Return of the King vs. Lost in Translation; we're in for a good ol'-fashioned slobberknocker Tuesday when the Oscar noms are announced.

Bend it Like Beckham goes away empty-handed :( ; Baghdad Sean wins; Miramax goes down in flames, always a welcome thing :D ...

It's nice to see Ricky Gervais and The Office, by far the best fictional show on television, get some mainstream respect. And Lost In Translation remains my favorite movie in '03, so good for Bill Murray and Sofia Coppola as well. Maybe the doormen and busboys who vote on these things are starting to take their responsibility seriously!

I'm with you here, great to see Bill Murray and The Office win. The other thing I noticed was how badly the big 3 networks, CBS, NBC and ABC did. All in all, their standard of Drama and Comedy is so bad. Plus they are taken over by the reality television disease.

I'm just glad The Office, Ricky Gervais, Bill Murray and Lost In Translation won.

But I'm sad that one of the networks is working on making an American version of The Office.

That show looks excellent. And since I've got BBC America, there's no excuse not to be watching it. When's it on?

But Jean Smart beat her to the punch by about a decade in portraying Aileen Wuornos; been there, done that. It's a remake of a TV movie from 1992. Monster may be the most overrated movie of the year.

WAR SCARLETT JOHANSSON! :D

A couple of questions.

1. How many people can get it over there?
2. Have you seen the christmas special's yet.

Also, do Americans 'get it', if you know what I mean. I ask because I've watched it and I woudn't have thought it was particularly suited to an American audience. I know it's won the Golden Globe TV musical/comedy award but that's from the Hollywood Foreign Press isn't it?

Yes, I "get it", it's my favorite show, most people with cable can get BBC America. I own Office Season 1 on DVD and BBC America has been showing Season 2 lately. As for the Christmas specials, I haven't seen them yet. My friend went home (Nottingham) for the holidays and when he came back (New Jersey) after the New Year he mentioned them to me. I hope to see them someday so please don't give anything away. Thanks.

Wouldn't dream of it, mate.

The only thing I would say is that I'm sure you'll appreciate Brent's idea as to how to make sure that women who send pictures for a dating agency provide one that has been taken recently.

Brilliant - just brilliant.
